XP-Pen's Deco Pro is a step up for this long time Wacom Bamboo user. I bought this after having used my bamboo tablet for almost a decade now and I decided it was time for an upgrade. After seeing some artists I follow talk about XP-Pen, I looked them up and found the Deco Pro was going to be released soon and that pre-orders get a good discount, so I jumped on the chance and ordered it. I do not regret that decision. My package came with all the items described in the store listing. Pen, pen case and holder, nibs, adapters, cable, drawing glove, and, of course, the tablet itself. The tablet is pretty weighty, a nice kind of weight that can be attributed to the casing. The size of the tablet itself is big despite me getting the smaller version, which those with portability or desk space in mind may scrutinize. However, I think this can be offset by the very slim form the tablet takes. I definitely don't mind that the tablet is big, my bamboo was smaller which meant a smaller work area. The tablet has programmable buttons, which really should be standard for any drawing tablet. What is new and interesting to me, however, is the dial which can also be programmed to fit your dialable needs. Need to resize your brush? The dial is there for you. Need to zoom in and out? The dial can do that for you. Rotation? The dial has you covered. In addition, the top of the dial acts as a touchpad, like the ones you find on a laptop, so if you need to quickly switch to a mouse because the pen is too awkward for the task being performed, you have a touchpad for that. The pen has a brush handle shape to it, which artists will appreciate. It is battery-less, which I certainly appreciate, and comes with two buttons as stated in the store description; one button is for right-clicking (or whatever else you need it to be) and one button is for switching between pen and eraser, something that should work with any drawing program. The tilting function is something I had never experienced before this and I am still in the process of figuring out how I can use it so I will update this review as soon as I have a clearer grasp on tilt.Installation is easy as plugging it in and getting the right drivers for your computer. The package comes with instructions on how to find the drivers, including a scannable QR code for those that have a scanning app on their phone. And for those that are wondering, yes this tablet works on Android devices. One of the first things I did was to test this tablet on my phone for compatibility and I found that it worked! While I don't see myself doing too many projects on my phone, it is definitely a pro to be able to do doodles on a portable device like my phone. The only nitpick I have for the tablet can be attributed to having a new tablet or changing from Wacom to a competitor. The feeling of using the Deco Pro as opposed to my Bamboo was very notable and some users may feel growing pains from switching brands. However, the feeling is only apparent for the first day. After that, if you're still using it, chances are you don't notice a thing. I certainly didn't when I was working on my projects. All in all, I very much like this tablet and recommend it for both new and seasoned digital artists.

I really enjoy this tablet, I have many hours on it already. The build quality is very nice, the buttons feel good and so does the wheel and touch area. The drawing surface has nice friction, in fact initially I thought it might be too much. The pen is very comfortable to hold, very light, and the buttons are well positioned. I only have a couple real complaints, the wheel is a little too easy to move, sometimes I move it without even realizing. Also, the touch area only works as a digital wheel OR a mouse (think laptop touchpad). Regarding the touchpad, I would like to see a little more flexibility, being able to use all gestures together as well as resign shortcuts for things like swiping up would be nice. Anyway, even though I saw that as a major drawback initially I still find the tablet to be incredibly convenient, having a scroll wheel attached is a huge time saver.

Edit: I forgot to mention the case that comes with the pen is quite sturdy and nice. It holds the pen very firmly, so firmly you could use it to make the pen easier to hold if you have troubles holding small items. And you might just have to use it in that case, because there is no good place to grip the pen to remove it. You have to grip it from the tapered tip and wiggle it around until it finally pops out. If I sound bitter, it's because I am. Anyway, not a dealbreaker by any stretch, but it is a painfully poorly thought out design. Actually, as I'm writing this and examining the case to be sure I didn't miss something, I'm starting to wonder if maybe there is supposed to be a spring at the bottom of the tube wasn't installed?

I got this to replace a Wacom Bamboo tablet, after first trying a VEIKK. This one is definitely the winner. Nicest feel, the wheel is great, easy to set up. I also push things by using it in a KVM situation and it handles that well. You do maybe have to touch with the pen a bit harder (or longer?) than expected to register a click but I've adjusted quickly.

I did find that I needed to turn off all the Windows Ink and pen and tablet settings even more aggressively than with the other two tablets. On one computer it defaulted to the cursor not appearing at all, and on the other to a tiny barely visible one. After turning off all those settings and installing the software this was resolved. But Windows Ink is definitely the bane of tablets, I don't understand how Microsoft managed to get every single thing so wrong but they sure did.

The one other issue is with the wheel. The wheel is great, perfect tactile feel. And the touch surface on the wheel works great. However… it's almost impossible to use the wheel without touching that touch surface. So you really have to pick only one or the other to enable and turn off the other. They should have left a little dead space around the ring so they could co-exist.

This is the FIFTH tablet I have purchased through Amazon.
I have bought one of every company but Wacom – they are cost prohibitive for anything I want to use.( Huion Inspiroy ink-no drive that worked, and the drawing screen on the back you could barely see. A gimmick. Huion New 1060 Plus – as soon as I took it out of the package I felt the back bend under my fingers, flimsier than the $30 monoprice, and the EXACT SAME button/soft button/drawing surface! for twice the price! I didnt even plug it in. Veikk a-30 – touch buttons glitchy, and drive not consistently working. Monoprice – great little cheap tablet, durable, still working after 18 months just fine, working driver. but not sensitive enough. only 2048 levels) I finally decided to bite the bullet and spend an entire 100 to get something that worked. I hoped at least that I would get a drive that worked consistently, and didnt keep changing the button programming on me.

What I got with the XP-PEN Pro (small) was FAR beyond my expectations, even if i had not had issues before. The body is aluminum on the back, and the dial is too, making it more durable than ANY of the other tablets I tried. And even though it says 'small' I can barely tell a difference in the drawing area. (My monoprice was 10×6.25,this is 9×5'') The cable is built to sit alongside the tablet, so I dont really notice it. wireless is a small sacrifice for the abilities of this tablet, IMO. The drawing area has V-shaped lights built into the corners, that you can adjust the brightness to, that highlight the drawing area so you can draw in low light. The dial has a light, too. All blue, non changing color. VERY useful feature. there are also TWO dials, not just one, both programmable to 5 different settings. You can then proram two of the express keys to cycle through each dial's usage, giving you 20 other shortcuts you can use in addition to the 8 express keys, and the 2 on the pen. That's 28 total, if you program 2 for the dials. Then there is another setting that ou can use, called detail mode. If you press a button, it will center in on a small area of the artwork, and zoom in your tablet as well, giving you the entire surface area to draw in the tiny art area. Meaning you can draw tons of detail in a tiny spot. It is very light as well, super thin, and still feels durable. And I have barely used it yet. Oh, did i mention that it also has tilt function? all these functions, in a tablet under 100, and it works well? I think im keeping this one. I'll update if things change.

Great Experience for a Beginner (or experienced) Tablet User- XP-PEN Deco Pro Bluetooth Tablet

Reviewed in Canada on September 28, 2024

    Size: MediumStyle: WirelessVerified Purchase

As someone completely new to using a graphics tablet, I was honestly a bit unsure about using one for my fine art photography at first. I’ve always done my drawings, "the old fashion way" on paper and didn’t think I’d be able to translate that to a digital platform. But after hearing so many good things about graphics tablets from other artists and wanting to improve my digital photography art, I decided to give the XP-PEN Deco Pro Bluetooth Graphics Tablet a try. I’m so glad I did because it has completely transformed the way I work!

First of all, setting it up was super easy, I just went on their website and downloaded and installed their software. The only issue I had was connecting it via Bluetooth. It wasn't because of the product or anything, I just always have an issue with any Bluetooth device with what button to press when paring. Once I read the instructions, I was good to go. The wireless connection is solid, and so far I’ve never experienced any lag or delays between the pen and the screen. It’s nice to not have to deal with extra cords all over my desk. It also comes with a USB connection option, which I tried out just to see if there was a difference, but honestly, the Bluetooth works perfectly, and I’ve stuck with that ever since.

The pen feels natural and light in the hand, and it’s incredibly responsive. It’s almost like drawing on paper…. except with way more features. The pressure sensitivity is amazing with all the different photoshop brushes! As someone who is learning to use a graphics tablet, I can already tell how much of a difference it makes over using a mouse. I've always been hesitant about using a tablet because I've always had it in my mind that it's not "real art" if you use one but, it really mimics the traditional drawing experience, which made the transition a lot smoother for me. It comes with an extra 10 nibs for the pen too. I'm not sure how long they last yet but it seems to me that 10 of them will last a long time for me. I do have to get used to the buttons on the pen though because, I seem to accidently press them a lot when I draw and set off the programmed function.

One of the things I’ve been really impressed with is how customizable the tablet is. It has a radial inner and outer dial and shortcut keys that you can map to different functions in Photoshop. I’ve started setting them to some of my favorite tools (like undo and zoom), and it makes the workflow so much faster. I’m still getting the hang of it, but it’s been fun to figure out how to make my work process more efficient.

I should mention that the tablet is also very sleek and looks great on my desk. It’s thin and doesn’t take up too much space, but it still has a generous working area for drawing. I feel like I’m not cramped or limited at all when working on my projects. I did make a wood stand for it so that has helped with the desk organization a lot.

Now, for a couple downsides I’ve noticed— the on/off switch is located on the back of the board which can be a slight annoyance having to pick it up and turn it over every time I turn it on and off. It has an auto shutoff feature on it too, so if you forget to shut it off, it does it for you to save battery. Again, having to pick it up and use the on/off slider to start it up again would be a little less annoying if the switch was on the top or side. The other thing may not be an issue with the tablet itself but rather, a personal preference. I ordered the larger tablet not knowing anything about using one. I find that because it is larger, I have to slide my hand/arm further back and forth because it has the bigger area. It will just take some time to get used to I expect and I won't think about it after a while but, when you're used to a mouse where you can keep it in a relative small area, it is something to get used to. It's not unlike drawing on a pad of paper so eventually it'll not be an issue I expect.

All in all, the XP-PEN Deco Pro has been an amazing tool for someone like me who is just starting with a graphics tablet for art. It’s user-friendly, well-built, and incredibly fun to use. If you’re looking for a tablet that can help you ease into the world of digital drawing, this is definitely one to consider!

So far, I would highly recommended it!

    Maravillosa tableta grafica.

Reviewed in Mexico on October 16, 2023

    Size: MediumStyle: WirelessVerified Purchase

Y me encanta.

Reviewed in Mexico on December 12, 2019
