When I first saw wireless CarPlay adapters available, I thought the technology was overkill and would be a temporary fad. I have been using wired CarPlay, which I love, for several years and thought there was no need for wireless. That all changed when I rented a car for a week in December and it happened to have wireless CarPlay. I was sold on the feature after the first day just because it makes it so much easier than having to plug the cable in the phone every time I get in and out of the car, plus I don't have the cable making the car look cluttered.
As far as this particular wireless adapter goes, it has been working fine for me all week (over 500 miles). It took a moment to pair it initially, but since then it has paired automatically every time I get in my car. I no longer need to think about plugging the cable into the phone. It reconnects in about 10 seconds after starting the car and resumes playing from where it left off. The CarPlay screens are exactly the same as the wired screens, and so is the sound quality. I haven't experienced any lags or delays. I really hope this continues to work like this for years to come.
One thing I really like about this particular adapter is how small it is. It's smaller than the typical flash drive so it doesn't take up any space or have a lead wire. It also has a green LED that turns solid so that you know it has paired with your device.
There are a couple of odd things I've experienced that don't relate to its performance. When I initially paired it, my phone showed that it was connected in the BT settings. However, ever since then, it shows unconnected in the BT settings in the phone, even though it is clearly connected since CarPlay is fully working in my vehicle. Odd, but nothing to worry about. The other odd thing is that I found one location along my drive to/from work where the BT signal is chopped 3-4 times for a few hundred feet. I initially thought the adapter had problems, but has happened every single time at that same location, 10 times now, and has not happened anywhere else; it's like they have a jammer or some other strong signal that interrupts BT.
You're not supposed to handle your phone while driving, but if you need to pick it up it's much easier to use without the wire attached to it. Or you could use it while you're a passenger.
