This shelf makes me nervous. In order to hold the shelf on the platform there are two screws that pinch two plastic pieces and sandwich the glass. Then there are two small suction cups on the front 'arms' of the platform. I worried that tightening the screws too much might crack the glass so I didn't screw them completely in. As a result the glass can slide around with a little force. It's not so loose that it would slide out on its own but I would keep it out of a child's reach. Yikes.
Also the two screws which hold the glass are slightly too big for the holes. I had to use a drill and give a lot more downward pressure than should be necessary to get them threaded in. I'm sure the screw threads are now gone since the holes you thread into don't actually have threads.
I'd like to add some foam or something inside the plastic pieces to soften the tight grip on the glass but I'm not sure I want to take the screws out because I doubt they'll go back in.
Anyway, the bolts that hold this to the wall are good (colored silver, not black). It came with big anchors, though I put this into a stud so I didn't use them.
Overall I think it looks good. Matches my TV, and holds my very small DVD player. I installed it above a TV which is mounted on an articulating arm, so I was careful to ensure that the TV never bumps the shelf for fear that the glass would fall.
Took me about 30 minutes to install. Most of that time was spent looking for screws that would actually thread into the holes. But the hole size in between a #8 and #10 sized screw…
