Review applies to watch & app software as of (01/11/2024) with Samsung Note 20 Ultra, Android 13.
This is an excellent watch for the price. It looks stylish and has a quality appearance. It does lack some of the features of the more expensive brand name watches, but the ones it does offer seem to be reliable and accurate.
It has heart rate monitoring, but does not have blood pressure monitoring. The heart rate seems to be accurate and you can have 24 hour monitoring enabled.
Messaging, supports Email, Calendar and social apps. Phone calls and SMS work well. Phone calls can be made from your nominated (up to 10) phone contacts list.
There is no built in GPS, the Tozo Wear app can utilize the phone GPS in Outdoor Walking, Running and Cycling.
The weather screen also uses the phone GPS through the app, there is a manual option to enter your location, although it recognizes the location and you can select it, but then fails to implement it.
It comes with four selectable watch faces, but you are only allowed one additional watch face from the app store, which can be from a number of watch categories or your own customizable build.
The amoled screen is excellent, with nice colours and sharp resolution, there are 5 brightness levels, but no ambient light sensor. The touch screen is smooth and responsive.
Five ring tones are available, but you cannot change the alert tone. You can change the volume level and add vibration options. I prefer silent, with screen activated and vibration on, but even the strongest vibration setting is still subtle. When do no disturb is on, the screen on, sound and vibrations are turned off. But you can still view them within the message screen.
The battery performance is good, I was happy with how long it lasts between charges.
It would be better, if the aways on screen display option, defaulted to a basic watch (no second’s hand) on a black display to conserve battery power. Many watches do this and when the watch is activated, it goes back to the normal display.
I like the fact the you can set the ‘do not disturb’ times for all watch functions. Even the raise arm gesture has this option, so during sleep time, it will not disturb you. But you cannot turn off individual target alarms, Steps, Distance, Calories, they will honour the global settings, do not disturb and silent mode.
The Tozo wear app seems reliable, easy to connect and control watch. Also has guest or personal account. I am still monitoring phone battery usage in background, seems okay.
Pros: Great value, Battery life is good.
Cons: No way to turn off target alarms, without using do not disturb or silent mode. Would like to see more health monitoring features. While restricted to one screen on the app now (exercise), how intrusive will Tozo’s ads, become in the future?
