Worked Great!

Worked Great!
Got the RLink X3 and set it up right away. Set up was simple and it came with great instructions, even how to set up Ford, GM, and Chrysler programming software. I was itching to use it so I tried it with forscan as a j2534 device and it worked great! Looking forward to programing some cars with it!

This thing surprised me. Going into this tool, I wasn't expecting much, knowing how much GM locks their software down. I was thinking i might be able to check codes and that would be about it, but i was able to program too. After installing the drivers, GDS2 and SPS2 had no problem detecting it and it actually seemed to work faster than an official MDI2. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to use as a GM tech. Also, having the ability to switch between usb and usb-c is great, as it allows me to stay connected to my computer no matter what is in what slot. The status lights even let me know if the vehicle, computer, or both are connected too.

I have used the Rlink x3 for Ford and GM programming as well as using Forscan. It is not your typical scan tool obd connector you can purchase. The X3 is a J2534 tool so it is used with factory scan tool software from Ford, GM, and Chrysler. You download the Topdon Rlink software package and then download the drivers through the topdon app. Its a very smooth process to get it working. Once you have the drivers downloaded through the app you can use the X3, You download the factory software from Motorcraft, AC Delco, Or Mopar. I have a factory Ford VCM2 and a GM MDI and this cable works just as well as either of those. Honestly it can be a little easier than dealing with the VCM2 in my opinion. The Cable is great quality and is plenty long. For Ford owners, this cable works flawlessly with Forscan. I was able to do module calibrations and programming as well as look at live data and run active tests and actuations. For someone that mainly programs the big 3, this cable is an absolute must as many different modules require programming and calibrations on newer vehicles.

Takes alot of setup time and expensive software plenty of other units that are alot easier to set up and use and not limited to the expensive oem software

Great product from TOPDON as usual. Does exactly as it says. Easy to set up and use. The price is less than one trip to the dealer and has already paid for itself.

I have been using FORscan for a few years now, I had a cheaper OBD adapter but it would intermittently disconnect, almost bricked a module because of it. Finally bit the bullet and got the RLunk X3 OBD2 adapter, and WOW! My 2019 f150 xlt, used this and FORscan to activate the factory trailer brake control, saved about 800 buck from the dealers quote. Coolest thing, customized my dash to.display oil temp and pressure too! Link X3 feels nice and premium build wise, calves is long i can sit in the passenger seat and connect to the old with my laptop. It swaps between HSCAN and MSCAN automatically so that lowers the worry between killing modules, fast data rate probably 5x what my cheap one was,ZERO LAG reading abs data stream. Yes it costs a little more then the cheapo no brand adapters but man time saved is worth every penny. Chrysler Pacifica throttle body relearns, and other basic module features, check and done! The obd2 to usb compatibility is legit.

Needed this to flash a tcm on a jeep. This is a good device and very good value. Software installation and operation is straight forward, and Top Don USA support was actually very helpful.

Unfortunately as of 12/5/25 there is outage/bug with witech's software that is preventing j2534 devices from connecting with vehicles. Not the fault of this device, it's an issue with witech and they're issuing subscription refunds until this issue is resolved.

    Works but weak USB plug

Reviewed in Canada on December 20, 2025

Loved it while it was working but the USB-C plug broke right off as per the picture. You're working in a confined space, the cable is not that long and a little pull on the cable broke it off. They have to improve it. I think the USB-C to A adapter doesn't help. It should be the other way around with a USB-A on the cable with a USB-C adapter as that would be easily replaceable if it broke.

It connected to GDS2 and was working fine. Didn't have a chance to try programming a module yet. What a shame.

Update 2025/12/30: The seller contacted me and did right by me by refunding the total amount and sending me a new adapter. If anyone is looking at buying one of these, I strongly suggest that you use the USB-C to A adapter and TAPE them together permanently to prevent the USB-C plug from being pulled or twisted, at least until they make improvements on the plug. This review update was not solicited by them nor did I ask for the refund and/or replacement adapter.
