Whether or not you enjoy showering, it's a must. Or at least some form of bathing on the regular is expected, at least in my world. A while ago, I got one grab bar for my parents, because, you know, aging. It's been really helpful for them in the shower. However, like most colonial houses, they have multiple bathrooms with bathing facilities, so when I saw these, I had to grab them.
Installation is a snap – literally! You peel off the suction cup sticker thingy, flip up the levers, push the handle onto the wall, and snap the levers back down. That's it! In fact, I liked them so much, I kept one for my shower. I did install one in the second bathing room at my parents, so now there is one in each bathing facility, which actually gives me a sense of relief, because it makes it way safer for my parents. All they have to do is grab the bar if they get wobbly, and it is pretty sturdy so far! I know others mentioned that it didn't hold, and fell even without anyone being in the bathroom, but I installed it and have had no issues in my bathroom, and haven't heard anything from my parents, either. I call that a win for safety!

I have been a little concerned about my husband’s balance. It would be nice for him to have an extra “hand” or two around the house. I thought I would try these. He didn’t know I was getting them and I wasn’t sure what he would think, but he was pretty happy when I opened the box. The fact that they’re not permanent is such a bonus. He can put these wherever they work for him, and then move them around, as necessary.
These are ready to go right out of the box. The first thing I did was try one out on the kitchen counter. Hubby said “bet it won’t come off.”
Following the instructions for removing, I grabbed the little orange spatula looking thing, and carefully pulled it up. No Problem. It’s ready to go for next time.
I was afraid these would be too long, but they are perfect for just a handhold. They are pretty lightweight, and the suction is super strong. They don't take any time to install, and I don’t think there will be any problem trusting them. If you know what I mean.
I never thought I would get excited about grab bars, but I am.

Got these because we have a short (48") but deep (16-17" wall height) bathtub base to our shower stall, and our parents are getting older. When they come to visit, they were nervous about showering because of the high step-out. We also have a 4 year old who has trouble climbing in and out of the bathtub by himself.
I love that this came in a two pack! I put one on the wall of the shower stall so our parents can grab it on the way in and out and be safer. I put the second one on the top of the marble tub enclosure so our son can hold on while he climbs in and out of the tub. Double win!
Usually I leave installation of this sort of thing to my hubby, but he was busy and I was excited, so I took 30 seconds to read the extremely simple, clear and well put together instructions. Seriously, they made this idiot proof. If you can follow pictures and simple words, you've got this!
Cleaned the surfaces I wanted to use with some vinegar to break up any dirt and soap scum, buffed 'em dry with a microfibre cloth and all I had to do was peel, stick, hold and click to install! The instructions say to pull firmly and steadily to check how secure they are, but I wanted to make sure they'd catch a fall, so I sustain-pulled, and yanked in all different directions. Absolutely zero movement beyond flexing on the suction cups!
My son tested it out last night and again today with some bubble baths and said he was excited he can do it all by himself now. And I have peace of mind he's not going to slip and fall trying to sneakily get out while I'm in the next room. His current passion is doing just that and running past me dripping wet yelling "naked wet footprints!!"…. hilarious….I love mopping all of the time….
On that note – can they make a suction cup like this for keeping kids IN the bathtub? I'd remove the grab bar if I thought it would keep him in the bath! Sadly, he always finds a way, and at least now he's safer.
The kit also comes with a little orange tool for helping remove the suction cups should you need to, but I don't see that happening for us anytime soon. I'm so glad we have these now! Such a simple idea that gives me so much peace of mind.

The Installation:

Suction Cup Grab Bars for Bathtubs and Showers is an excellent product. I am getting older and sometimes I get dizzy. Adjustable grab bars will help me maintain our independence.
Two grab bars, removal tool and color page of instructions. The instructions were very clear to follow with appropriate pictures of the right way and the wrong way to do each step. I found it very easy to attach and remove the grab bar. Easy to open and close the levers on the suction cups.
The instructions recommend under Storage & Note: "Re-apply the protective film before storing". So do not throw it out! Personally, I think any smooth plastic sheet will do and the purpose is to keep dust off of the suction cups.
The problem I have found with grab bars is you do not know the best place until you go to use them and they are a couple of inches off from the ideal place. This product addresses that concern and safely allows you to experiment to find the best spot.
Essentially, surface must be clean and flat for the Nano Gel Vacuum Suction cups. Simply press the cups against the surface for three seconds with the lever open, press both levers down and the grab bar will adhere to the surface. Test. For 2 grab bars: box claims 240 lb; image on website 275 lb (man hanging from grab bars); video on website 200+ lb (smaller man hanging from grab bars); and text on website "Weight capacity Minimum weight: 226.8 kg", which is 500 lb. So there is some ambiguity there.
If we fly, I doubt we would take them with us, but if we drive, these bars will find room in the truck.
I highly recommend this product.
