These noise cancelling headphones are very nice quality and super comfortable to wear. I originally got them for my daughter because she doesn't like loud noises. We have an upcoming flight, and I figured these might help her sensory issues from getting overwhelmed. I have used them numerous times myself to help me drown out the background noises while I work on my computer, listen to podcasts, etc., and don't want distractions.
The headphones are very durable, easily adjustable, and very comfortable to wear. They adjust down to fit my 6-year-old and can adjust up to easily fit myself as well, with plenty of room to spare. They are flexible, yet sturdy, and fold up nicely to store away when not in use. This makes them easy to pack away, carry in your purse, backpack, or keep at your desk, while taking up very little space.
The Bluetooth was easy to set up and it has very clear instructions with good pictures to show you how to get started and how to use them correctly. It's very simple to do, even for someone who might not be that great with technology.
The headphones have three volume level settings: 74dB, 85dB, and 94dB. For quiet environments, such as bedtime stories, you probably would want to set it to the 74dB setting and for louder environments, such as airports, stores, fairs, etc., you would want to set it to 94dB. It automatically starts at the factory setting of 85dB. What these settings do is limit the volume that the child can listen to audio so that it doesn't damage hearing. You can still use the volume up and down buttons to change the volume, but you just won't get louder than the 74dB, 85dB, or 94dB setting.
The headphones have an ANC option that you can turn on/off simply by pushing the button. A voice will come through and let you know when it's been turned on and off. This will block 85 percent of background noises so that it doesn't disrupt what's playing through your headphones. This function works really well and does block out a lot of any disrupting background noise. The only downside is that you can't use this function unless you are connected via Bluetooth to your device. You can't use it while connected via wire connection.
The headphones come with an USB-c charging cord, a cord to wire connect your headphones to your device, and a carrying bag to carry and/or store the headphones. It takes less than 2 hours to charge the headphones and depending on if the ANC mode is on or off, can last up to 60 hours on a full charge. The listening range is about 30 feet from your Bluetoothed device.
There is a built-in microphone that allows you to make video calls, Facetime, or answer your phone. Numerous times I've been connected to my phone listening to YouTube, podcasts, or audiobooks and someone has called me. I've been able to answer without having to disconnect. The sound comes through nice and clear, and they have no trouble hearing my voice clearly. The sound quality on these headphones is really nice, and I've not had any problems with losing connection or cutting out. They really do have a nice sound quality whether you're listening to music, playing games, making video calls, or phone calls. Everything is crisp, clear, and continuous.
The only reason I didn't rate these a full 5 stars is because I thought that these could be used with the ANC mode without having to connect to a device, but that isn't the case. I was wanting something my daughter could just wear to cancel out noises, without having to necessarily listen to music, games, etc. She is on the spectrum and HATES public restrooms or any place that has too many stimulating sounds. I thought these could help drown out those loud noises and not stress her out. However, the few times that I've tried using these with just the ANC mode on and not connected to anything, they just automatically shut off after a couple of minutes. My husband has a pair that cancels background noises without having to listen or connect to anything, and I thought that these could do the same, but it does not. However, the headphones are padded and cushioned enough that it still muffles SOME of the loud noises for her without being connected. If there is a way to use the ANC mode without connecting, then I haven't figured out how and it doesn't say anywhere in the instructions.
Overall, these are really nice quality headphones that are durable, comfortable, and offer protection from damaging volume levels. The ANC mode helps reduce up to 85 percent of disrupting background noises but needs to be connected via Bluetooth to use. At the time of this review, the headphones are $39.99, and I think that is a reasonable price for the quality of the headphones, sound, functions, and the comfort of the headphones.
