We are very pleased with the Portion ProRx feeders we got for our 2 cats. They have been the solution that we’ve been searching for. We have used other automatic feeders, but even though the previous ones we used portioned out the meal sizes for each cat, the cats would start eating at their respective feeders and then switch and eat the others food.
What we like about the Portion ProRx feeder?
1 – It only allows each cat to eat from their assigned feeder. This ensures that:
    a) Each cat only eats their cat food. We buy special dietary cat food for one of our cats.
    b) Our cat who normally would eat more than his fair share of food, because he would also eat much of the other cat’s food (which caused his weight gain), now only gets his portion of food.
2 – It has 2 modes: open and closed modes. We use the open mode for the feeder assigned to the cat that moves around the feeders a lot and closed mode for the other so that his food stays fresh since the less active cat is slower to eat.
3 – It has multiple options for # of meals for the day and accurately apportions the daily quantity accordingly. We love that even if the assigned cat doesn’t go to the feeder to eat at the set time that food is dispensed, he can always eat when he is ready without having to worry about the other cat eating his food.
4 – If the feeder is plugged out and back in for new placement etc., the time and settings remain.
5- We love that the feeders let you know if there was a power outage resulting in a missed meal.
6 – Easy to clean all parts of the feeder.
7 – The bin is very large, so we don’t have to fill up with cat food very often.
8 – Manual and brochures are very professionally done with instructions that are very easy to follow.
It took the cats a few days to get used to the sound of the feeder doors opening and closing, but they’ve gotten used to it now. Overall, Portion ProRx feeder works exactly as advertised and is exactly what we needed.

I have the previous model of this unit and when the battery needed to be replaced, I opted to upgrade. This might be a tick bigger then the old one but I much prefer the design. I imagine that the silicone slider is far more comfortable around my cat's neck. My cat is just over 12lbs so the size of the tag doesn't seem to cause him any problems. The tag functions perfectly; it unlocks his bowl for him and locks him out of his sister's bowl. I love that we have 3 cats, 2 feeders, and only 1 RFID tag – so easy!

Item works great if you can get one that works. I ordered three, one of which worked. I got two again today again neither are working. Eventually all my cats will be able to eat together on my very expensive feeder, not sure when.

We have had one of these feeders for years. It does have some kinks but overall a decent feeder. The new tags are much better than the old ones. I would prefer if it had an app to be able to add food to the bowl on the occasion that our dog steals some. There is a slow react on the collars where that does happen quite often. The feeder is pretty loud which alerts everyone in the house that it is dispensing food or the doors are opening. It is the only feeder we have found that allows multiple cats which is what we need since we have 3 cats. The support however is top notch. We had an issue with our tags and received a response within 24 hrs. They handled it as soon as I spoke with them. They do stand by their product.

    First off, the good:
    – reasonably sturdy, though our pets do not try to break it and I would absolutely not call it "battle tested".
    – it works! our food-stealing cat is perfectly locked out.
    – it works! opens reliably, feeds reliably (… so far), zero true issues after a month.

And, honestly, those are all that truly matter. So I I'm keeping the pair.

But I can't believe someone made this product.
And I can't believe it's apparently the only one that does what it does.
This is capitalism failing at its most obvious.

    Cons. Oh. My. Glob.

There is absolutely no way they use their own product.

It's very, *very* loud, and our dog likes to check that food exists a couple dozen times per night. And it's even louder when it dispenses food.
We'll learn to sleep through it, but WOW. This thing competes equally with the coffee grinder, and it's doing far less work, far more slowly.

I have no idea what motors they are using, but it's very clear they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. From the outside. Through an underground tunnel. Holy crap.

It has the most insane UI I've used in decades. The manual is correct and clear, so it's survivable, but when pairing to a collar tag it looks like it's glitching and you will definitely second guess everything you pressed. And that's *normal* behavior, not a bad unit.

And last but not least, and the most concerning but NOT YET FULLY TESTED: when it hits an error, it keeps erroring. Permanently, as far as I can tell.

When it's in this state, it seems to give up on feeding (if it thinks it's empty or jammed), but it'll still open and close the access door. And… honestly I'm not sure I trust it to try again at the next scheduled time. So far we've been nearby every day and have cleared errors and I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing… so I give it an even 50/50 chance of doing the obviously-right thing and continuing to try each feed period or more.

Behavior has mostly been good despite seriously questionable UX…

…no, not questionable. Inhuman UX. Impossible that a rational being has designed UX. Seriously what

Despite questionable UX, behavior has been reasonable. It stops itself quickly, interrupts itself when the animals interrupt to prefer what they want, and resumes later smoothly. If the feed-error turns out to behave well, I'll have almost nothing but praise for the core behavior.

That "almost" is a kinda important one though: when you do the "force open/closed" or "force dispense" button-combo, it *ignores you* if the paired tag is nearby. So you have to shoo the dog away for a full minute or two to get past a feed error and actually feed the dog.
I… almost understand the logic here. But no, it's dumb. If I want to close the door while they're eating, let me! It has pressure sensors, listen to those *safety* mechanisms but otherwise do what I told you to do, because that's why I told you to do it!

It's quite frustrating. But still worth it. But I still can't believe there aren't massively-better options for half the price, it would be *so incredibly easy* to run this company into the ground and they would deserve it for making roughly zero progress across several years.

[KEY BENEFITS]: – Fully automate pet’s feeding; portion control cat/dog food dispenser helps in overcoming pet obesity; eliminate food stealing and chaos at mealtimes; save money by not overfeeding; avoid expensive vet bills related to health issues associated with overweight/obese pets and truly manage a pet on a prescription diet. (Note: One feeder per pet recommended for proper daily meal portioning.)
[ACCESS CONTROL]: Our patented RFID cat feeder system controls access to the food for assigned pets within multi-pet households. The tag is recognized by the feeder at approximately 2 feet and more accurate recognition than microchips or any other passive RFID technologies. (Note: Our feeder does not work with standard microchips. Each pet should wear a collar tag for access control. If you purchase fewer feeders than pets in the home, we recommend buying additional tags to ensure proper access control.)
[PORTION CONTROL]: Keep your pets healthy by feeding them the right portions to maintain a proper weight. Each auto cat feeder is customizable to serve the right amount for the assigned pet. The food bin holds 32 cups of dry kibble & can dispense from 1/2 cup to 6 cups per day. It divides the daily amount into 2, 4, or 6 meals per day for cats, & 2 or 3 meals per day for dogs. The total daily food amount can be set in 1/8-cup increments from 1/2 cup to 3 cups, and in 1/4-cup increments from 3 to 6 cups.
[NEWLY DESIGNED TAG]: The newly designed collar tag features silicone loops for easy collar attachment and a sleek, smaller size for a comfortable fit on your pet’s collar. The battery is easy to replace. The tag also includes a new silicone O-ring seal and an enclosure sealing design that provides splash resistance. (Note: The tag is not designed for swimming or immersion underwater.)
[QUALITY AND SUPPORT]: Our products are proudly designed and engineered in the U.S., and we provide U.S.-based customer support. We stand behind the quality of our products, offering a one-year warranty from the date of purchase. Our dedicated customer support team, based in the U.S., is always ready to assist you with any questions or concerns.
The PawsPik automatic cat feeder with collar sensor combines cutting-edge technology with practical design, making it an essential tool for cat owners.
