Excellent addition to a 5 night kayak camping trip!

Excellent addition to a 5 night kayak camping trip!
Brought this on a 5 night kayak + camping trip in Utah, and it worked excellent! I primarily used it to recharge a 20,000 mAh (74 Wh) battery over USB C, and I was impressed at how quickly it charged my fairly large battery to full, less than 2hr I'd guess. We did have very sunny June Utah days, but still, I didn't honestly expect solar to charge my battery as well as it did. I found charging this external battery to be better & quicker than solar charging my phone directly, as my phone tended to overheat and slow down the charging process – not a problem of the solar panel, just a tip in case you also see slow charging speeds on your phone. I kept it dry so can't comment on the water resistance of this. I really like the multiple port options, I primarily used the USB C and USB A ports which worked really well. I like the pocket that holds the cords (and perhaps a small battery or phone too while charging). It folded up small enough for me to easily fly & travel with. IMPORTANT NOTE: The first one I bought was dead on arrival, didn't work at all with a quick backyard test. Luckily the Amazon replacement process was super easy and I got a new one shipped right away, but just be aware this could happen so make sure to test it when you receive it. We'll see how durable this replacement is, but so far after 5 nights camping all is good and it really improved our camping trip experience (we recharged speakers, etc).

I am pleasantly surprised at how well this thing works and also surprised how compact it is when folded up. Really well built and I'm certain will become an essential tool for extended camping, but also as part of my emergency preps. I was able to power my Starlink Mini directly from this panel under direct sunlight, but I would recommend adding a battery in between for uninterrupted service when the clouds pass by. A battery bank of some type would work great with this panel system.

Short version: Heavy, NOT fast charging, all panels must get some sun to work. Seems like it's of high quality parts. Good for emergency situations. Like waiting for power to return after a natural disaster (charges small things like phone, camera, Ipad).

    Long version:
Weighs a bit more then I expected. With that said it weighs what was stated in the description.

I bought for a hiking trip. Only tested it at home thus far.

Only works when the sun hits all panels. With that said, does work on a half cloudy day.

For example all panels are getting sun. One panel panel is getting full sun. The others are getting some sun through light clouds. It still changed my phone.

The charge time was slower then I would have liked. I don't know if it is fast, slow, or normal for comparable products. I expect this to take over a few hours to charge from dead to full.

I plan to keep the battery up on my phone while backpacking. By limiting its use and charging with this during breaks, lunch, and setting up camp/dinner. Should work if the weight is not too much.

This solar panel kit is ideal for a natural disaster. If you are stuck in one place with enough sun. This will charge your devices until power comes back on.

I like the design and build of this solar panel. I do think the buckle closure system is bulky and I may cut it off to make this more compact and less dangly bits. My main issue and the reason for only giving just over half the stars available is that at best I’ve only been able to get about half or slightly more than half the rated watts. I wouldn’t have expected to get the full 60 watts, I know that’s not typical for any solar panel. But I live in Colorado which is fantastic for solar and saw at least one or two reviews that got in the high 40’s to 50’s. I’ve never seen mine get over 37 watts, and typically it’s in the mid to high 20’s.

I get a solid 35 watts with my ecoflow power station. On a day with UV index of 8 and clear skies, I saw 37 watts for a bit. Maybe at higher elevation it would do better.

On the plus side, it is compact and should suffice for camping where you only need to keep your 100wh power bank topped up.

Update: On a partly cloudy day with no haze or fog, I'm three miles from the beach, it managed 44 watts. That was after angling it towards the sun. Flat on the ground it managed ~32 watts. It's not as good as the Flexsolar 60w folding panel. That one managed to max at 60 watts, when angled to the sun. Could easily do 57 watts, when there was a gap in the clouds.

It's USB-C charging isn't as stable as the flexsolar panel. It stops charging the Anker Solix c300 DC when its output drops below ~13 watts. The Flexsolar one will keep charging the anker, down to 2 watts of output. It comes with a USB-C 60 Watt PD cable, so that's a plus.

I wanted to get a portable folding solar panel & just got Lumopal 60watt for my Lumopal solar generator. Before go on road trips, I had to try, test & practice. It just fits on the SUV inside dash board nicely & also fits well on the front windshield. It was easy setting up. Input power varies a little based on weather but I got up to 40watts from outside on windshield & 14watts from inside dashboard —- pretty good! It’s good to know that it works in & out of my car. I hope to get up to 50watts on good day with better angle set up. I do have a bigger solar panel but it’s a lot heavier to handle. This cute real portable 60watt folding solar panel is good to have for easy & quick charging at anytime & anywhere; and, that’s is the beauty of it!!

They stand behind their work. The panel initially produced 40 W of power in full sun…which I deemed reasonable however within one week of use that number fell to 14 to 22 W… The mfg replaced the panel free of charge…

    Schlechte Leistung, Hersteller fragwürdig.

Reviewed in Germany on June 26, 2024
