The only negative I have experienced with this Enerbison EV charger is the lock mechanism on the SAE J1772 connector: it doesn't always release on the first press and sometime the button sticks stays partially up or down. My wife thinks it is getting worse. If it is, I'll come back and lower this review to 2 stars.
The ad says "Smart LED Touch Display". The only touch part are the two buttons: "A" for changing the maximum amps the charger will pull from the outlet, and another button that looks like the hands of a clock and is used to set a number of hours for the charger to count down before being useable.
The ad also says "NEMA 6-20 Plug & 5-15 Adapter". Those are reversed. The plug on the charger is NEMA 5-15P. The included adapter has a receptacle that will take the NEMA 5-15P plug and has a NEMA 6-20 plug on the other end. The NEMA 6-20 plug is needed for connecting to a 240V, 20A outlet/receptacle.
The manual is not clear that going above 12A is only possible if the charger detects 240V power being supplied to the charger.
The Level 1 charger that came with my Toyota RAV4 has one wire that is 12 AWG, two that are 14 AWG, and one 18 AWG. The wires to the J1772 connector on this charger are three 14 AWG and one 18 AWG. I don't know why Toyota included one more capable wire (12 AWG). I have not seen either charger get more than warm.
My Toyota charger has no display and no user settings. I enjoy the display on this charger showing me how much power is being drawn and the temperature of the plug. My car lets me say when to start charging, so I haven't needed that feature of the Enerbison charger.
Being able to limit the amount of amps the charger will pull is great! Decreasing the maximum amount of amps the charger can have increases how long the car takes to charge, but it keeps the charger and chest freezer from popping the shared circuit breaker at my daughter's house. At home, I have the whole 15 amp circuit available to the charger, but the only outlet near enough when visiting my daughter has to be shared with the freezer in the garage.
The extra protections of this charger are a nice upgrade from the Toyota charger. Just wish the Enerbison locking release worked as easily and reliably as the Toyota one!
