A pre-historic win.
When budget cuts swept the brewery industry I was still itching for a second screen. Happy to help, my HR department made their archaeological dig for this 1997 dinosaur of a PC monitor. I was ecstatic. Stanley was born. Our team got to work personifying him, but would he work? Would this little $5 Amazon adapter bring him back to the 21st century… As Stanley opened his eyes for the first time, light flooded into the room and we realized the true meaning of reduce , reuse, recycle. This ancient monitor was saved from another year in the cellar, or worse- extinction. Thanks adapter!

    My monitor died. Intermittent display but not usable.
    Fortunately I had an old vga monitor laying around. The computer has a hdmi port for a monitor. This device attached securely to the vga port on the monitor and had a firm fit into the hdmi port on the computer. Turned on the computer. Monitor came to life quickly. Plug and play. Nothing more to do. Also, the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended device.

    I hate adapters like this. They are hit and miss. But I needed to use an older monitor with a newer machine and the monitor didn't have HDMI. So, i tried this one out and it worked perfectly on the first try. I have since upgrade the monitor so I don't need it anymore but it is still connected to the monitor in case I pull it out again.

    I bought eight of these to connect several Mac Mini's to VGA capable monitor via a KVM switch. I got everything hooked up, but lo and behold, the monitors didn't work… they were reporting no signal. I tried connecting the Macs directly to the monitor via an HDMI cable and it worked, so the Mac was outputting a signal. I thought maybe the KVM switch was the issue, so I connected the Mac to the VGA port on the monitor via the adapter, but again, no signal. I next thought the VGA cable might be the issue, so I tried another, and still no luck. Finally, I tried a different monitor, thinking maybe the VGA port on the monitor was bad, but no luck with the new monitor. My final conclusion is that none of the 8 adapters I purchased work. The specs say they are unidirectional (HDMI to VGA), but that is the mode in which I am trying to use them… HDMI from the computer to VGA on the monitor. If I hadn't waited so long to test these, I'd return them in a heartbeat.

    Update: I have changed my rating to 5 stars because Moread has gone out of their way to correct the issue. They sent me a sample of a different adapter, which worked as I thought the original adapters should, so then they replaced all 8 of the adapters with the model that worked. I was very surprised, but have to commend Moread on their customer service. Thank you for making this right!

    I had just bought a new PC which only had HDMI outputs for video. My "old" PC (that still works) has a single VGA output. I have a 2 port KVM which would allow me to switch my Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor (KVM) between the two computers. This little HDMI to KVM adapter allowed me to convert the HDMI video output from my new computer to a VGA output which I could then connect to my 2 port KVM. IT WORKS FANTASTIC.

    I was concerned that there might be some loss in video quality caused by the process of converting the HDMI signal to VGA. THE PICTURE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT. I am able to confirm this because my monitor has both a VGA input and a HDMI input. So I first connected my new PC to the monitor using an HDMI cable. I then connected this adapter to the PC's HDMI output and then the VGA output of this adapter to a VGA cable which then connected to my monitor. In both set ups I watched the same video scene and checked out a number of high quality pictures. I could not tell the difference between the two setups.

    Functions exactly as described — Works fantastic – Great value at this price.
