Nice solid camera

4 out of 5 stars

Nice solid camera
Nice USB camera. Works nicely as a plug-n-play. Connected the USB and opened the Windows camera app and instant image. The camera has a solid build. The body and mounting bracket is split metal so it’s heavy compared to a typical usb camera, which isn necessarily a bad thing. The bracket allows the camera to be tilted vertically. You can also adjust it horizontally but you’ll have to mount the brackets first. It’s comes with the screws. The USB cord is long and thick so it that’s a plus. There are there adjustments you can actually make to the camera – all manually. You can adjust the focus, zoom (4x) and aperture. I’m not expert so it took some playing with to figure it but once you do…it’s not complicated. The picture/video quality is pretty good. It’s hard to say if they’re truly 4k but I think that also depends on the software you’re using. Compared to my Logi webcam. I’d say the Logi is slightly better but again…this is our-the-box so I probably have to play with the configuration a bit more to get the image quality right. Overall, it’s a solid PC camera and I really like and can’t wait to use it for different applications.

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

I want to say that this is by far the best camera of this kind I've used. I'm always on the hunt for a not good – but great – webcams that'll not break the bank and give me control and options.

This does that – but it does it in what I'd call "raw" fashion. There is no super tweaked "AI" in the background trying to make you look better than you do. In fact, this gives it to you real… and in astonishing detail for a webcam.

As with most of these kind of cameras (if you've hunted a bit you know what I'm saying – these ain't no basic Logitech webcam) the color is more heavy on the saturation and therefore those of you pasty white like me look more rosy than normal. All flaws are there in high detail and vivid living color. But, that's kind of the point – this is a multi-purpose camera that is all about detail, resolution, and what really makes it shine…. manual control.

Don't buy this if you don't intent to mess with all three: zoom, aperture, and focus. This is like having a manual focus SLR plugged in to your computer, and I love that. I just love that I can set it just how I want for a very specific thing, and don't have to worry about it "hunting" to focus or adjust light constantly. Using multiple programs as the back end (including OBS Studio) to control some of the output, you have a seriously powerful tool in your hands for a very good price. There simply isn't much out there like this, particularly for such a fair price in my opinion.

No, it's no Nikon, Sony, or Canon mirror-less camera quality for such a price, but seriously, it blows away most any "webcam" of similar price for its quality and in particular flexibility of use. Again, DO NOT buy this thinking you are replacing your highly artificially tuned webcam because you want "4K" resolution. If it's only a persons face you need this for, get one of many out there that are highly rated and tuned just for making you look better than you do. Get this for your specific needs – like constant focus on your sketching from above, or your whiteboard for brainstorming, or any other number of use cases where precise control is needed over zoom, aperture, and focus.

It's heavy, has a lot of glass in the lens, and is just a clunky hunk of awesomeness. Even the USB cable is long and thick and nice. It has two1/4 inch threaded female ports for standard tripod connections, too. It's Plug and play in Windows and Linux (and I assume that fruity operating system too). I highly recommend.

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

I have the older version of this camera which uses a Sony sensor but I get a very annoying hotspot in the center of the field. It is not the lens. But this one does not have the hotspot and therefore it gives me very nice performance. In addition I can change out the lenses with my other ELP cameras. This is not a plug and play thing that requires some disassembly but all in all this camera is very decent for specific applications.

It’s fully manual but you can adjust the focal length of the focus and the aperture. So you have full control over your lens and image. That’s what I mean by application because most people just want some thing that automatically works. But if you’re looking for a good project camera to set up specific functions, this could be it. I am using it for instants to automatically detect hits on the target are using AI. I am nowhere close to solving the problem I’ve hit recognition but what I have been able to do is get enough image information to do the processing I need. I wouldn’t be able to do that with a normal web camera.

This is definitely a DIY thing. Although you could use it for a studio home streaming set up. But it would have to be static unless you had some buddy behind the camera making the adjustments. You have to understand the limitations of the hardware. But I am impressed with the image quality which is a combination of sensor resolution, image processing, and a very good lens .

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

If we take into account that just 10 years ago we were still completely immersed in 720P and hovering around 1080P *(The "P" stands for Progressive Scan), then this incredible 4K camera with a 2.8-12mm Varifocal lens *(Varifocal means that the lens can be adjusted to the best configuration or, in its case, it can adjust focus and framing as needed) might just seem like "another online purchase webcam" to you. But let me tell you about the not-too-distant 80s-90s when Sony resolution was one of the best *(Perhaps that's why that brand was one of the most preferred and at the same time one of the most expensive and prestigious), and channels used portable cameras for TV programs, news, etc. In order to understand this context of prices, quality, and resolutions, a professional Sony camera was priced in the range of *(Average neither the cheapest nor the most expensive). They cost approximately $50,000 to $60,000 USD. Amazing, right? Those cameras that reporters used to carry to film news, which not long ago had resolutions of 360P to 720P, were replaced by Canon 1080P cameras. This may help you understand the AMAZEMENT of finding a "little camera" with such a tremendous resolution of 2160. Just imagine the numerical distance from 360P, which is six times the weight of the cameras that used to weigh up to 30 pounds and the cost that I indicated earlier. And not only that, you could use this little camera to make a television studio without any problem. I will refrain from delving into its technical configuration because *(I have been calculating how many pages I would need for its complete description and technical explanation of that Tremendous "Sony chip which is the SONY IMX317 (1/2.5") with a maximum resolution of 3840(H) *2160(V) and with compression formats of MJPEG/YUV@(YUVY) and with protocols for USB 2.0 HS/FS with automatic white balance and AEB support, and adjustable parameters of brightness/contrast/saturation/color definition/gamma adjustment/different color temperatures in degrees Kelvin. If I were to explain each of these acronyms, I have been calculating that I would need approximately 6 full pages, which would be illogical in this medium. Perhaps this is one of the challenges of explaining in such a limited space. I recommend that you please read the advertisement that accompanies this camera that I have been analyzing and that is very close to reality, both technically and descriptively. I tested it and I testify that as a university teacher whose classes are often held via webcam, I was completely AMAZED with its performance. I think if I tell you that this camera is so easy to use that you even have to be careful in its use because it can capture the pores of your skin… I truly recommend this camera, and comparing its quality to its price, I could say that the price is "ridiculous."
