Great screen, average stand, good for the price!

4 out of 5 stars

Great screen, average stand, good for the price!
The screen itself is excellent for the price, but the stand is less than durable, and after only two portable screenings, I was fortunate to just barely return the screen and stand to my theater room in operating condition. Overall, quite pleased with the product for its price point.

The first thing you'll notice when you set this up is the size – 100 inches diagonal definitely seems much bigger in person than picturing it in your head. I used this in a 50ft long room with a very low-end projector, and I was easily able to see the image from the far side of the room.

The overall build quality is much better than I had expected. It is very sturdy, and as such I can't see it being accidentally knocked over by a passerby. It also folds up to a much slimmer profile than I had anticipated, allowing it to be easily stored in the back of my closet when not in use.

Also a big plus is the footprint of the tripod – this screen's stand doesn't take up a ton of floorspace. This is important to me, as I often need to use this screen very close to a wall. Unlike my previous screen, when I swivel the tripod so that one leg is pointing straight at the viewer, I can scoot the screen very close to the wall – I'd guess around 18 inches or so away. This makes a big difference in smaller rooms, where another foot away from the wall means you'll get a smaller image size in situations where it isn't feasible to move the projector back.

On the negative side, the side effect of this unit's sturdiness is weight – while not surprising given its size, this screen isn't terribly light, and it certainly isn't something you'd want to pay to ship across the country to accompany you on a business outing.

Also, the "keystone eliminator" is just a rod that connects from the central vertical support to the screen, and allows you to angle to entire screen to help offset any keystone issues that occur when the projector isn't set at the right angle. While this does seem to work, it looks quite silly, likely leaving the impression to many that you were simply too lazy to set the screen up straight. Keystone correction should be handled in the projector, not the screen. Luckily, it seems most newer projectors have some kind of built-in keystone correction, so this really isn't an issue.

I've only used this screen for meetings and presentations, and for that the image quality is more than acceptable. I haven't had the occasion to test it with a DVD or Blu-Ray to see how well it holds up for video content, but I suspect it will be fine for an entry-level home-theater setup. That said, if you're looking at this for exclusive home-theater use, you may consider going with a screen that is perforated, so you can place your center channel behind it, rather than underneath.

Overall, I've had a positive experience with this screen, and would recommend it. I may consider buying one of the smaller Elite Screens, if only for more easy transport or use in smaller rooms.

This is a very good screen with all of the optical features bragged about by the manufacturer being "as described".

It is large. It is easy to set up. The screen material is of excellent quality and thickness. The spring and roller mechanisms of the tube are smooth and pretty much effortless. Once up, the screen is very stable, the metal tripod is strong enough, and the whole thing resists being pushed over pretty well. It is not heavy, though it is a bit awkward to manage a screen this size into and out of vehicles – see below.

Be aware you cannot carry the screen by the handle which beckons you to do so, rolled up or not. The handle should only be used during the set up, not for carrying – grab the tube and tripod directly. The metal of the handle assembly is of insufficient gauge for the length and weight of this size screen, and it will bend. I am sure you don't need to ask me how I know this. Because of this I give it a 4 instead of 5.

Note that a screen of this size is 7 feet long, rolled up and tripod tucked away. It is tough to fit into a lot of vehicles, if not outright impossible. If you have a sedan, this is not the screen for you. You will have to fold down/open the rear seat and front seat so it can fit through the trunk into the passenger space, if that even works. With most SUVS, it will extend all the way up to the front passenger seat or right down the middle over the console and maybe cover the gearshift. Make sure you really need this size and that you can transport the portable screen.

In the hotel when I teach my seminars, the screen price for the weekend is the same as the screen I bought from amazon, then you can buy a new one every time for the same money. Don`t worry if the screen is not as strong as we wish

This is a nice screen, but not durable. The clip that holds the extension tube on broke last year, but we fixed it ourselves. Then last month the adjustable plastic collar broke as well. I tried to fix it, failed and emailed them. At that point it was 11 days past the 2 year mark. They emailed me back that it was out of warranty and I could buy a new piece of plastic for 35 dollars (including shipping). We used it once a week on Sundays for movie night at our house, so it was opened just over 100 times.

have the 4:3 screen. Arrived a few days late due to bad weather, so cannot hold that against anyone. Overall the screen worked well, did a good job with a low lumen projector in a subdued lighting large meeting room. The major issue is the upright pole is very flimsy. If the bottom of the screen is moved up and the upright pole is extended all the way, the entire upright support system bends, almost to the point of bending and kinking. Had to drop the lower portion of the screen to about 1/3 from the bottom, extended the upright pole to max out the screen and then put the screen on a conference table to raise it high enough to be seen over conference seating.
Also, the bottom part that the screen rolls into twists when the screen is pulled out. this does not interfere with usage, just annoying. When the screen is fully extended, the entire screen and part that the screen retracts into is not parallel with the floor. the left side (facing the front the screen) is higher than the right by about 2 or 3 inches and is noticeable when a full image is displayed.
For the money, I would buy this again as using it three times pays for it versus renting from the conference room providers.
NOTE: this screen is LONG – must be transported in a van or larger SUV. It will not fit in a car. It is easily transported with the proper vehicle.

Very good value, and wow large!

I am very happy with this purchase. I run a small bicycle mechanics classroom and needed a portable screen for presentations. The build quality is not as robust as say a screen purchased back in the day, but it works well. Its very large, quite surprising. The screen material is excellent, and setup a breeze. I recommend this product without reservation.

No one wants to fix when it arrives broken!

Reviewed in Australia on November 18, 2018

The product arrive broken and in pieces and I have now found that parts are not available for this product. I now have a semi functional product that has cost big dollars especially after I include freight. A small compensation was offered which is nothing like enough. What I really want is a fully functioning screeen. Very disappointed.

    Good quality, with some caveats

Reviewed in Canada on December 28, 2023

    Model: T100UWV1Verified Purchase

I wanted something that was portable so pull down screens were out of the question.

Electronic ones were also more than 5-6 times the price, which I didn't want to spend on a screen especially when you can buy a budget 86" 4K TV for around $1k nowadays.

    The Pros:
    – Very easy to set up, just pop the locks, rotate and pull the screen up to lock it in place and you're pretty much done
    – Screen itself seems very uniform and flat which is a huge improvement over cheaper screens
    – Portable and can be brought around and used everywhere

    Cons:
    – It's still not "cheap"
    – The tripod legs extend quite a bit so it takes up quite a bit of space as opposed to a box design that goes straight up
    – If you're using it outdoors, the screen can "wobble" a bit left and right with a little bit of wind and there isn't a way to lock it down it seems

Overall, it's not perfect, but it's probably still the best option for what I need at this price range, so I'd still recommend it.

The 120” Elite screen was dented as the box was busted.
Two raisons for this: the unit is flimsy and the packaging was insufficient.

Amazon would only reimburse $3.99 for the return shipping cost!
