Amazing
Ok so I've used tablets for years but this is my first graphics tablet and honestly I really really love it. I'd been wanting a graphics tablet for years but hadn't been able to afford one until recently, and with my regular tablet starting to break down I decided to take the plunge and get one. I chose this one after looking at quite a few options. I picked it because of the price point, what I'd heard about xp-pens customer service and quality, and also I don't have a large amount of desk space. the tablet's small enough for me while not being so small it'd be difficult to use my programs. Also…it's pink, which is one of my favourite colours. ignore the sticker, I left the protective film on until my screen protector comes in cos wear and tear happens with pretty much every tablet, it's just easier to miss cos with regular tablets there's no screen or light coming through to highlight the scratches, so making sure you have screen protectors and changing them out when you need to is important. I've included pics of the tablet program, and the customization options because that was my major worry. A lot of tablet programs and drivers are clunky, this one though is not. Frankly it's been one of the best ones I've dealt with over the years, super intuitive, and easy to use. It was easy to customize my hotkeys, and I can also save my hotkeys specific to each program which is SO NICE. I work in several different programs and tested this with affinity photo and affinity designer, as well as paint tool sai, Blender, and Krita, and all worked well. Being able to tailor the hotkeys for each program makes workflow a lot smoother. Once I downloaded the driver, installed, and restarted, it didn't take long at all to get started at all. I work on a Windows 10 PC and when you first open it up the tablet mirrors your screen, and you can just get started working from there. However you can also set it up as a second monitor, which is what I did, by going into the display settings and hitting detect. Once it registers the tablet as a second monitor, you can change it from mirror mode to extended, which lets you have your program open on the tablet screen exclusively while freeing up your main monitor for things like internet, or in my case my refs are on my main screen so I can just look up when I draw. It makes life a lot easier. Keep in mind the second monitor setup is still active even though the tablet is turned off, just in case you're wondering where your mouse is. Calibrating was really easy, I haven't had any issue with parallax but I also don't dot the pen straight down vertically. When calibrating I hold the pen the way I would when painting, and tap the crosshairs with the tablet at the angle I'd use to work. It has several automatic screen temperature options for the colours and one of them matches my screen almost perfectly so I didn't have to mess with calibrating the screen colours. However it does have rgb and brightness and contrast sliders for you do do this if you need to, which is super helpful. For the physical connectors I have it plugged in with the HDMI USB cord it came with. I tried using it without plugging the second USB into a plug but there was some flickering because my laptop didn't have enough power to supply the screen consistently, which is normal, and I expected it cos I have a lot of peripherals plugged in to my PC. It's the same reason why you can't use a lot of USB hubs without an external power source or things start to fail. Your computer only has so much wattage to give, so I used the additional included extension cable and plugged it into an actual plug. After that it was fine and theres been no more flickering since. All in all It's been pretty good, we'll see if I need to change my review in time but So far I'm pretty happy with it.

I am a professional artist, I draw book covers for a living, I brought the xp-pen artist 16 2nd generation to have a display drawing tablet that I can hold in my hands wile siting in bed drawing. And this tablet is excellent for that. I can use just a one c- usb cable that goes straight to my Mac book pro. This allows me not to have any cables in my way, while sitting in my bed drawing, making it very comfortable to use, the power come straight from my MacBook Pro and powers the tablet. The screen has excellent colors, and very easy to set up with clip studio, especially using Shortcut keys. The screen is laminated, so it allows you to make it feel like you are drawing directly onto paper, that is a nice feel.

Are use a cintiq 24 HD touch for the last seven years, don’t get me wrong. It’s a wonderful machine, but this new XP pen allows me to be portable.

There’s only one feature that could be improved is the pen itself, it’s not like my cintiq it does not have a nice grip to it. It works though very well. But it needs to have a rubber grip and bigger buttons that allow you to have more control, but because I’m only using it to sketch and in mobile situation, it works great for me.

I really recommend this, especially for the price point. I have used thousand dollar cintiq pro 16, and I think that it draws just as good, and has a screen that gives you vibrant colors for what you were looking for as a professional artist, or even a beginner. don’t get me wrong I still think the Wacom products are amazing.

But for the price point of this, it works just as well and it gives you the same feeling of the cintiq pro 16 buy wacom and it’s lot lighter, and I love the short cut keys. Xp pen I give you 👍 up. Amazing

This 12 inch xp pen tablet came with a small blemish, but in all fairness, I paid a ridiculously low price compared to other tablets. But oops it was supposed to be a valentine's gift. I had the great fortune to notice the 16 inch version was at a greater sale, so I got that one for her and kept the 12. The 16 was perfect. I can't see the blemish on the 12 while in use, and honestly, it's going to develop some wear and tear thru use anyway. The screen is brilliant and the texture is perfect.

I'm running the latest iOS on a 2018 Mac mini i7. There have been zero issues with the "other big name brand" tablet while simultaneously using the XP. The only hiccup I've run into is learning to scale the screen right (on her PC) before calibrating the pen. I am a Mac, not a PC.

I found that using a quality usbc cable connected to the thunderbolt ports on my Mac mini worked best. HDMI was already in use for my main display. The HDMI port in a peripheral I was using for my iPad was not sufficient either- there seemed to be some winking. I can't recommend using USB power from the same peripheral that you have an HDMI adapted. Plug in as direct to your computer as possible.

Configuring hot keys in the XP Pen driver was not as pleasant as it could be, or at least compared to the big name tablet. It was more of a learning process than it needed to be.

If I were to pay more money to get a better product, it'd have to be for a 4k touch screen and at least 16 inches- which I believe XP-PEN makes. Maybe for XP-Mas?

The only tool function I can't get with XP Pen is barrel rotation. I make use of this in many of my paintstorm brushes on that big brand name tablet. Not seeing any evidence that brand name is updating the barrel rotation pen any time soon. Sad to see the dwindling support of a function that is second nature on any real brush. With all these newly affordable apps and tablets we should really be seeing more diversity of tools. Airbrush? 3D Sculpt mouse? Rotary dial? Anyway- no one is making these anymore. The XP-Pen is solid for what it does and at a great price. Can't beat that.

Its an economic draw pad and functions great. Solid, and the xppen software is really good. The pen is programmable for different mouse clicks or keybinds. Good fidelity even at the lower resolution. Fantastic if you use an image processor as a hobby and I’ve more than gotten my money’s worth. However, the wires are a real hassle, and it becomes too much if you want to draw on your couch. You’re saving money in this regard, but I wish I had a wireless pad after a few years.

    Works great

I owned and returned an xp pen tablet 7 years ago. I bought a cintiq after that bad experience. I only bought this XP pen 10 out of curiosity to see how far brands have come other than wacom at this price point, at 10 inch (an ideal size for me) with physical buttons (no longer on cintiq) and one cable use to power on even a phone running android (would be convenient)… Well, I can gladly say, this product surpassed all expectations. These things have come so far it's pretty amazing.
    Very excited for digital artist

But by warned. The buttons do no work on android. The only way to navigate with Dex, is to turn your phone screen into a track pad, pan and zoom in and out and around your work. It's the best work around without touch..
But having touch is another $800. This is definitely doable for a beginner. Bravo XP Pen

    **Rating: ★★★★★**

The XP-PEN Artist 12 (2nd Gen) is an incredible drawing tablet that exceeded my expectations! The 12-inch screen is the perfect size—not too big to be cumbersome but large enough to work comfortably on detailed projects. The display is crisp and vibrant, with excellent color accuracy, making it a joy to create digital art.

The pen is a standout feature. It’s lightweight, battery-free, and extremely responsive, with virtually no lag. The pressure sensitivity is spot-on, allowing for smooth, precise lines whether I’m sketching, shading, or blending. The customizable shortcut keys are a game-changer, saving so much time and making workflows much more efficient.

Setup was straightforward, and the drivers installed without a hitch. It works seamlessly with all the major art programs I use, like Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, and Krita. The build quality of the tablet is also fantastic—it feels sturdy and durable, yet slim and portable enough to carry around.

This tablet is an excellent choice for beginners and professionals alike. It’s a fantastic value for the price, offering premium features without breaking the bank. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their digital art setup!
