Amazing Tablet for the price!!

5 out of 5 stars

Amazing Tablet for the price!!
I have had this tablet for about a year now and I can confidently say this is an amazing tablet! It a wonderful start out if you’re looking for a larger screen but don’t want to drop $1-2k on the higher name brands. I’ll give a couple pros and cons about the tablet and hopefully it’ll help those who are deciding if they want to get one! Pros! *Large screen! – I’ve have used the 12.9 iPad Pro for almost 6-7 years, but always wanted something larger. This screen suits my needs so well! I don’t like to use shortcuts so I’m able to adjust my program to accommodate my tools and windows. *Sensitivity – I was worried with it being a lower cost tablet that there would be some sensitivity issues…nope!! It’s perfect! The pressure can be adjusted to your desire as well, but I pretty much left it how it came out of the box! The is no lag, but I will say it depends on your computer. I noticed I got a bit of a lag on my iMAC, but that’s because it’s old and I had to unselect screen recording to have it optimized better. But I had no issues when I used it in my Windows gaming Laptop. Just keep in mind on your processor. That my only concern on that part. *Price- Is there more to be said?! It’s at an amazing price for someone wanting to start out on a larger screen but not sure if they want to go and drop over $1K on the name brand tablets. I will say I have use a Wacom Cintiq Pro 27 during a convention to try it out, and while obviously there are some differences in quality and performance, the Gaomon PD2200 performs insanely well for its price. *Accessories – tablet is build with its own stand and already installed so no assembly required or having to purchase a stand separately! You get the display pen along with additional tips and a holder for your pen! As I’ve mentioned I have had the tablet for nearly a year and have yet to change the tip yet. But I will say I don’t use it very often as life is busy, but I will put a guess if you use the tablet everyday you may just need to change the tip out every 3-4 months depending how much pressure you use. Now to the Cons: I don’t have many but the couple I would put out would obviously be involved on how it’s priced. You get an amazing and large sized tablet for the fraction of the name brands, but it’ll come with its downsides. First would be the buttons- the buttons to turn the tablet on/off are not synced properly so I have to maneuver around to have to turn off the tablet when I’m done. It gets annoying especially when it takes more than a minute to figure out the right spot to press. The short cuts being on the top right our a bit annoying. I wish they were at the bottom but like I mentioned earlier the screen is large enough that you an adjust your tools to your liking that suits your needs or you can just use keyboard shortcuts. This is also something to keep in mind if you’re a left hand drawer. It’ll be more difficult to select the shortcut keys. Display Match – Trying to display match was a nightmare. It took a lot of time and effort to get it remotely similar. I would suggest going to your computer graphics settings and set it that way. Trying to adjust it from the tablet itself is difficult and when the buttons not being syncs properly, it makes it even more frustrating when trying to adjust the display settings. I have used this both on Windows and Mac, and Windows took a little more time but iMac has preset settings to match with it, and it made it a little easier but it’s not perfect. So just something to keep in mind when drawing. Your colors will be off so always reference from a screen you’re used to and the tablet for best results! That’s all I really have. It’s still an amazing tablet if you’re starting out on wanting a larger screen! I love this tablet despite its quirks and really happy with my purchase!!

I’m honestly impressed with this Gaomon screen tablet! For the price, it delivers way more than expected. It’s a screen tablet, so you can see exactly what you're drawing, which makes the whole experience much more intuitive—especially if you're transitioning from a non-screen tablet.

Keep in mind, it’s not Bluetooth, so you’ll need to use the included cables to connect it to your computer. But once everything is plugged in and set up, it runs beautifully.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to install the correct drivers from Gaomon’s website that match your model. This step is crucial—once the drivers are installed, the tablet works like a dream. I've used it with both Krita and Clip Studio Paint, and the responsiveness and pressure sensitivity are fantastic.

Overall, this is an amazing value for artists on a budget or anyone wanting a solid, reliable drawing experience without spending a fortune.

Okay so, ive ALWAYS wanted a large screen drawing tablet and ive searched for YEARS to find the perfect one and fellas!!! I think this is as close as it gets!!! This tablet is perfect in every way (like, literally, actually perfect) and I love it SO MUCH.

It has a matte screen that feels Oooooooo nice to draw and rest my hand on, the work area is MASSIVE and my wrist gets a huge break (I upgraded from the 12in iPad pro screen to THIS 22IN BABY so my joints are saved) and the hook-ups are spectacularly simple.

The pressure sensitivity is so amazingly varied that no matter what sort of drawing pressure you prefer, gaomon has that covered!! Mine is a middle ground, but I could even make slight adjustments so that i barely had to touch the screen to make marks!! Fantastic.

Now, story time: I did receive a defective model. Just a few hours after having it hooked up, a giant line appeared across my screen and wouldn't go away! It wasnt dead pixels, because the tablet still worked perfectly, but it was visually annoying. I contacted Gaomon support and they were so wonderful and responded in less than an hour!! At night on a WEEKEND. So they're very responsive. I showed pictures of the defect and they immediately replaced it for me at no extra charge!!!

    TLDR;
I now have the tablet of my DREAMS and i can't possibly recommend them any harder!!! Customer support was a dream to work with and this thing is AMAZING for the price you pay.

    3 year update (12/9/2023):
This Tablet is still amazing! I've used it tirelessly this entire time and it still works as if i bought it yesterday! It's incredibly durable and an invaluable tool in my work. There have been 0 issues the entire time I've had it and I couldn't be more grateful!

I will always recommend this tablet to everyone I can, simply because of how well mine has faired, despite the passage of time and DEFINITE wear and tear I've put it through!

Once you know and understand it's shortcomings, it's a great device. I was looking for a step up from my Wacom tablet (non-display) and this Gaomon came up at a good time on black Friday deal. I use it primarily for editing photos with Lightroom so I've configured the express keys on the tablet specifically for Lr. The tablet drivers installed without any hassles. The tablet configuration program is pretty straight forward but could use a bit more explanation (not much in tool tips.) It sets up primarily for right-handed users but you can flip the configuration around for lefties. You'd also have to tell your computer to flip the display the otherway. Normal setup would be the express keys on the left while the USB/display cables would be on the right. Pen vs tablet registration are +/- 3mm on the very edges of the tablet. It will vary based on the way you calibrate the pen while you're holding it so you might want to play with calibration software and offset accordingly (make sure mouse mode is off in the Gaomon software.) I played with the calibration software and offsetted so that the pen tip and pointer were within 1-2mm of each other; this was acceptable for me to work effectively. This model color gamut was only 72% of Adobe colors and was noticeable (I do have a color calibrated primary display.) Gaomon does have a higher tier model that covers 100% of Adobe RGB but that clocks in at around $500. I can live with this difference for now until I really want that upper tier.
I can honestly say that editing pictures this way is far more productive than using the non-display type of tablet where you'd rely on purely hand/eye coordination (can't go back now.) Spoiled! Gaomon was proactive in providing support. Instead of resting on their laurels and wait to be contacted; they reached out first to answer some questions. This was where they informed me of the 3mm offset discrepancy on the edges. Kudos Gaomon. My computer system setup is a Windows 10 desktop with dedicated graphics card. Cable provided in the Kit – on one end: HDMI/USB-A/Tablet Power; other end to tablet was HDMI-mini/USB-C. Cable connections on the computer end was full sized HDMI on graphics card port (extra) and USB-A. external power plug extension to power socket. Connection on the tablet – the port wells were deep and secured the cables snugly. If you're looking to use a tablet and don't already own one, I'd highly recommend you jump straight to this external display/tablet combo and bypass the regular tablet. By the way this tablet only responds to the pen and not any part of your hand. The kit dis come with a half glove for gliding over the tablet. You may or may not like this glove; I used it briefly then went without it. All the physical display adjustments are found via the display controls next to the power button. Just so you know, even if you shut off the display via the tablet button; the computer still acknowledges it as being on and available. Pen feel….feels like you're holding a sharpie. That's my thoughts for now. Cheers!

Just because it's not $2700 doesn't mean it's just for beginners

Reviewed in Canada on December 18, 2020

Size: 21.5 inchStyle: stand includedVerified Purchase

I purchased this after watching a few video reviews on Youtube and decided to give it a shot. I stand by my 5-star rating but there are some tiny litle caveats.

Comparable-size models by XP-Pen and Huion are the same price (their newest models) but their screes are not laminated – this one is. Lamination is wonderful – it reduces the space between your pen nib and the cursor on the screen below it.

Parallax is virtually nil, but I will note that very close to the edges the cursor does tend to pull away from the nib, but I was aware that this was a "thing" before I purchased and I was happy to "make do". It's really not terrible, and if you don't like it, just drag the area you're working on into the centre of the screen and *ta-da* problem solved.

There is a "built in" screen protector under a peel-off one that you remove before using, and it's great, but there's not a lot of "tooth" to it. It's not a slick as writing/drawing on glass, but it's still kind smooth-ish. I would have preferred something more matte, but honestly, I'm kind of used to it now.

I gave it 5 stars for thickness only because i've never been asked to rate the thickness of anything and I'm always up for new experiences. Having said that, the entire thing is a little over a cm thick, which surprised me because it looks thicker – in the middle on the back is a small 10cm square-ish block that sticks out where you plug in the **separate** usb/hdmi and power cables – no silly "3-in-1" cable which , if even one thing dies you still have to return the whole thing, you get three distinct cables, and that's awesome.

Also the adjustable stand is already attached when you get it, so one less thing to fiddle with.

some people are not super stoked about the shortcut keys because they're not lit and your can't find them through touch, but I'm left handed so i'm just using my keyboard any way.

Short, final note: I've been painting and drawing and illustrating and doing all sorts of creative things for 40 years (longer but i feel like I'm aging myself enough by admitting to 40 years) and i have sold things that i have done so I guess you could say I'm professional – and I like this and recommend it.

Yes, I'm sure it's great for beginners, but really, it's a great piece of equipment for anyone, regardless of the price and if you don't have to spend $2700 to work on a big tablet, don't.
