The LAST dock you need
I have bought a ton of docks, and this is my favorite. In short, if you are looking for a dock that can do 4K@144Hz or above, and you don't want to spend $200 on Thunderbolt 4 docks, then this is the one you should buy. I have a 4K 144Hz monitor and one set of keyboard and mouse for both my gaming PC and my working MacBook (M1 Pro). I use a DisplayPort KVM to switch between the two devices. This dock allows for "one cable solution" on the MacBook side. It allows 4K with VRR 48-144Hz (maximum for my display), and 93W of Power Delivery. The cable is definitely on the short side. So, I am getting a USB 4 extension cable, and you should too.

Thank you for your feedback

I bought this little port replicator because I needed a solution for my HP G9 issued to me from work so I could run it with my Samsung Galaxy Odyssey G9 monitor. It works right away with no drivers at 5120×1440 with Windows 11. I am very pleased with the purchase because this thing was only 42 dollars and it does everything a much more expensive port replicator could do. Keep in mind this only has one Displayport and one USB 3.2 port but that's all I needed. My laptop only has a single thunderbolt port, so I could not plug in a dongle and charge the laptop at the same time, so that posed a pretty big problem without this simple device. CableMatters is also an excellent brand because they make quality products as I have many others.

I purchased this on the off chance it would work as a docking station for my gaming laptop at my house. I’m happy to say it works flawlessly. I have a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop, and this adapter allows me to connect my 49” Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide monitor, usb mouse, usb keyboard, and usb DAC (using complex hub connections). Before, my previous solution would draw too much power, causing something on the usb bus to drop off randomly. This does not have that issue. I’m also happy to say that it does pass HDR and G-Sync to the monitor (HDR is 8-bit dithered for me, but I think that’s a me problem, not the adapter itself).

I tried to use this hub to connect a MacBook Pro to a KVM switch for a 1440p 180Hz monitor. When I used this hub, the monitor flickers and shows artifacts regardless of the DisplayPort cable I used. However, if I directly connect my laptop to the KVM switch using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, the flickering goes away. I am returning this product.

Just what I was looking for. Laptop to A/B DisplayPort switch (to toggle personal & work laptops) and then on to dual daisy-chained monitors. Power USB-C pass-through keeps everything chugging along. Just plug and play. 10/10 would recommend.

I have an usage scenario that is probably not very common. I wanted 3440×1440@144hz, and charge my laptop, and have a few USB devices plugged in. This met all my requirements, although I would have liked to have a USB3.0 port, but there's probably a bandwidth limit if you want DP1.4. You could probably do it if it's Thunderbolt at 40gbps, but then it would be a lot more expensive.

The only thing I'm not super enthusiastic about is the form factor/size. You'll have the short USB-C plugged into your laptop, and then a bunch of cables going out perpendicular to that, which if you're trying to make it tidy and make all your cables going in one direction make it hard.

I have a 39” monitor. Yes you read that right this is about twice the size of a standard 27” monitor. Regular HDMI doesn’t work for monitors this big. So you need DisplayPort and what better way than adding it through thunderbolt 3, adding 3 more USB outlets plus a USB C outlet.

When it works, you can't beat the price for what it does. Similar functioning products are hard to find and cost double or more, usually with a lot of extra I/O I don't need. Unfortunately my first unit burned out and stopped working within a day. My replacement unit just died within a few weeks.

    Ottimo

Reviewed in Italy on January 22, 2024

Perfect for LG 5k screen with only USB-C input (with a bi-directional USB-C to DisplayPort cable)

Reviewed in Germany on March 22, 2025

I have a Surface Studio Laptop with a LG 5k screen with a USB-C input only (made for Mac). Had trouble with the screen trying to charge the laptop also while plugged in with the more powerful charger.

This is dongle in combo with a bi-directional USB-C to DisplayPort cable is one of the few options to solve this with a decent cost. Giving you the video signal and possibility to connect other peripherals to the dongle, and there by leave one USB-C ports still free on the laptop (which only have 2).

Works as intended. With 2 extra usb-a slots, I basically use this as my docking station. My monitor now works at at least 144hz for everyday use. Since this is supposed to be an on-the-go item, my only knack for this is the short cable for the usb-c output.
