The jury is still out on this product. I need to decide quickly if I want to keep it as my 30-day return window will be here before I know it. I have been on the hunt for a skimmer as I live out in the country and I have trees, pollen, bugs, gnats, etc. Hand skimming my stock tank pool is not cutting it and I am tired of getting into my pool holding a mini skimmer and constantly fishing things out.
Pros: It is quiet and does pick up a lot of stuff in the pool. I love that it is shaped like a true skimmer and swirls and picks up debris in the pool. When I am ready to go swimming, the pool is crystal clear. It is easy to use and relatively easy to clean although the mesh, sponge thingy is questionable. I spray that off with a hose things are still on it so I guess it is ok to keep to using but until what point? Until you can't see through it?
Cons: No one on here is talking about the run time and the charging. I have to literally plan out when to put this in my pool because it can only run for a few hours and then it takes a full 4 hours to charge. I can't imagine what people with a bigger pool than my 10 ft stock tank are doing. I can't put it in the morning if I want to go swimming in the afternoon because I will have accumulated bugs by then. What if I spontaneously want to go swimming, it isn't like this thing can run all day. Additionally, I am not seeing what value the app adds. It tells me it is cleaning and the battery life, basically that's it is all. The movement around my pool is just ok. Maybe because my pool is round? It literally goes from the same side back and forth. I have to force it to go to other places.
The short run time and long charge time will probably be the downfall of this otherwise great machine. I am quite shocked more people aren't talking about this problematic feature. Maybe they just don't need their pool skimmed the way I do. I wish this was solar, and I would no doubt keep it if it was.
