Love it!
I was between this and the Remarkable Paper Pro, and I chose this because of all the extra functions and customizations. It is user friendly, practical, and smooth with writing. The split screen note taking is awesome, and being able to download PDFs from the Internet directly is a plus for me. The AI Assistant is splendid too.Do your research and look up videos comparing your options and see what fits best for your liking and goals. It does have a little bit of “ghosting” but it is barely noticeable, and I personally don’t mind it.Overall this is a great product to substitute physical notebooks and books. I highly recommend it for professionals and students.

    I owned the Remarkable Paper Pro for a few weeks and although the hardware was amazing, the software was simplistic, restrictive, and underwhelming. A device that costs $650 should be able to do everything you want it to do. So I retuned it and I was looking for a device that can do it all, and then I found the Onyx Boox Note Air4 C.

    This little tablet can do everything the Remarkable Paper Pro cannot do. You can upload directly to any cloud service of your choosing without a subscription service. You can download apps. You can markup PDFs. You can download Kindle and read your books. You can do split screen multitasking. In the Notes app, there is a tool to create shapes and fill in shapes. You can draw in several different colors. There are frequent software updates. There’s a lot more pre-installed templates in the Notes app. You can change how frequently the display refreshes and you can choose how vivid and saturated you want the colors.

    On the hardware side, there’s a fingerprint sensor for easy unlock. You can choose how bright you want the display and you can adjust the warmness of the display. There’s a microSD card slot so you can expand how much data you can put on the device. There’s also Bluetooth and audio. The pen that comes with the device works well. It feels like writing with a small felt marker and I like that. If you don’t like that feeling, you can always buy a different EMR-compatible pen. You can make this device to be as distraction-free or as fully functional as you like. You have that choice.

    There are some potential cons to this device. It’s a Kaleido 3 display so it’s a little more brittle than other displays. Don’t worry, you don’t have to baby it, but try not to drop your device and buy a good case. If you’re worried about breaking the device, definitely pick up the Asurion plan offered by Amazon. You can pay for that monthly. The display can be darker than others. The battery life is so-so, but enough to last a few days if you turn off Bluetooth and WiFi.

    If you want an e-ink device that can do it all, and can do it all in color, I definitely recommend the Boox Note Air4 C.

    Exceeded expectations as an ereader

    I've been a user of E-ink since the first Kindle and started going outside of Amazon almost 2 years ago. I already own the Remarkable Paper Pro and Supernote Nomad for a digital notebooks and knew this product was lacking in that department due to my extensive research. So I was not surprised to see that the writing is pretty terrible in comparison. I would definitely not recommend this device as a primary notetaker unless you can't afford multiple devices and need a jack-of-all trades device. I tried the pen that came with it (feels like a dry marker and sounds like one on the screen too), I tried the same pen with a kindle scribe nib, and the Lamy Alstar pen with the pom nib. They all feel pretty bad to me having already gotten use to other devices for writing.

    With all that said, I bought this as an ereader, something to read books and graphic Novels/comics on with some light annotating. In that regard its wonderful, the color is better than expected, I don't need the frontlight on as high as I thought (it does need to be on though unless you've got a lot of light. Page flips are fast, images look great on my covers and comics. It comes with around 34ish gb of storage free but I put a micro sd card in. The native reader app Neoreader is fantastic and supports many formats. I put my comics on as PDF through Calibre (calibre recognizes the device automatically) and transfered my books as epub. I put the Kindle app for Kindle Unlimited and Marvel Unlimited app. All work perfectly.

    If you want to use the browser it works best with the pen. The device itself is well built and solid. the edges are rounded which honestly I dont get because the pen fits awkwardly on it and the device is too cold and slippery to use without a case of some sort. I bought a third party case, the official case has no charging port cutout.

    In summary, I love the device, the pen is trash unless it's just because of the screen film they use for the "paperlike" feel.

    Edit: I switched my nib to the scribe one. Feels nearly the same but without as much dry marker feel and sound. Notes app has crashed 3 times for me in a 30 minutes window after trying to use undo. Also the battery is decent but ONLY if all you do is read text with airplane mode (no WiFi or Bluetooth) and as low light as possible. Using dark mode at night helps for me because I can use the light lower and still see text. Doing literally anything else on this device drains battery fast.

    I have Boox Page 7. Really like its open and flexible system. Wanna get a larger screen color e-ink boox to read textbooks with color charts. After 2 days intensely reading all kinds of reviews on NA4C, I decided to get one. I really want to like and enjoy the device since there is no Kindle Scribe Colorsoft on the market. Immediately noticed the bad pixel when I turned on the device. I understand color e-ink screen is darker than BW version. So I compared with Kindle Colorsoft, its screen is darker even if I turned brightness to the max level. Installed Kindle App on this device. Text on the color cover is not readable on Boox. But text is very clear on Kindle. I guess the reason why every color file (PDF, ePub) needs to be sent through the web and converted to kindle is that the current screen can only handle 4096 colors. Color files in PDF or ePub have more than 4096 colors that need to go through a certain algorithm to limit color to 4096 so that the boundary of text will be clear and not ambiguous. Maybe this is one of the reasons the overall color on Boox seems washed off. The strength of N104C is that it doesn't have a yellow band or tint at the bottom and the app runs smoothly due to its much stronger CPU.
    Anyway I tested the device around 10 mins and returned it. Probably won't try another Android color e-ink device until Kindle releases a Scribe Colorsoft signaling the tech is ready.
