The packaging is neat and professional, the adapter comes secured in a molded tray with a product manual and warranty card included. Even the USB-C connector has a protective cap, a small touch that shows how much Acer cares about details.
The adapter itself looks and feels premium. The matte silver-gray aluminum housing is smooth to the touch, and the edges are well-machined with no sharpness. Using a caliper, I measured the thickness at exactly 1.4cm, which is quite slim considering the functionality packed inside. Interestingly, despite its compact size, it feels reassuringly solid in the hand, not hollow or cheaply made like some generic adapters. The grooved side panel likely helps with heat dissipation, especially since dual HDMI output can generate quite some heat. It also gives the device a strong, almost industrial aesthetic, more “mini workstation tool” than basic dongle.
Port selection is excellent: two full-size HDMI 2.0 ports supporting 4K@60Hz output, a USB-A 3.0 port (5Gbps), and a USB-C PD port that supports up to 100W input (90W output to the laptop). The hub draws power and handles display/data from a single USB-C connection to your laptop, which is a huge convenience in minimal port situations.
It’s impressive that Acer managed to include both charging and a data port alongside the dual HDMI, I didn't expect that, because many competitors only offer video out. If I could nitpick, I’d suggest upgrading the USB-A port to USB-C in future versions, since many users can easily bring their own adapter when needed, and now USB-C is way more popular than USB-A.
While I haven’t had long-term use yet, I can already see how valuable this adapter will be for travel and client-facing scenarios. For instance, if you’re in a conference with a large screen, this hub lets you quickly set up your laptop with dual 4K displays and power it at the same time, all from one device.
I also tested HDMI output to my Sony MASTER Series AG9 TV, streaming 4K video without a hiccup. Playback was smooth, no stuttering or lag, and audio passed through cleanly. The HDMI output worked flawlessly without needing additional power from the PD port, just plug in the HDMI cable and you're good to go.
Overall, from design and build quality to practical usability, this Acer ODK540 delivers a polished, thoughtful experience. It's a small but powerful tool that punches above its weight, highly recommended.
