I’m not a professional yet I’m not an amateur at digital art. I fall somewhere in the middle. I used to have a Wacom drawing tablet and it worked pretty well until one day it just stopped. Fought and fought to do all the steps the get it back working but to no avail. I dropped drawing altogether after that. Fast forward two years. Decided to get a drawing tablet and get back into digital art. I researched for weeks on what to go with because I wanted quality but didn’t want to pay a ridiculous amount of money because this isn’t for my job, just a fun hobby to do with free time. I chose this tablet which is at a GREAT price point y for what all you get.
First off, I could tell before I opened it that it was going to be a better quality than my Wacom just by the weight of the box. I opened it up to find everything individually wrapped, the tablet itself was individually wrapped AND had a screen protector on. When I took the tablet out of the box, it was heavy (not in a bad way) heavy as in this is not a cheap piece of junk. I love the matte texture of it as well. The pen? Well you get a pen case…with 8 spare heads…AND it’s made from the same material as the tablet. Quality. Also, you get 2 types of gloves.
How easy is it to set up and get to painting? I plugged it in, it automatically installed the software, and I started painting within maybe 5 minutes.
Performance. At first it lagged and that worried me but I believe that it was just my PC itself (it’s old) after a few minutes, that completely went away and it was smooth as butter from pen to tablet to screen.
The only negative would be that I saw reviews about the tablet not holding up long term, but that’s something I can’t touch on because I just received mine. Not to say it couldn’t have a short lifespan, but honestly in my person opinion I don’t think that will be the case. Have you ever saw something and automatically said “yep, that’s cheap”? Well this isn’t cheap quality but you get it at a cheaper price point.
Hope this helps anyone especially amateur to mid-grade level digital artist on your decision to purchase.
