Great GoPro-on-a-budget dupe!

5 out of 5 stars

Great GoPro-on-a-budget dupe!
There’s actually a cheap GoPro action camera dupe under $100 that lives up to its name? Sign me up! After a lot of extensive research and YouTube videos of different action cameras sold on Amazon, I’m shocked at how great this action camera is.. especially if you want an action camera on a budget. I used this camera while on a family theme park trip and was able to catch so much content on this thing, whether it was the rollercoaster POVs, casual vlogging, and even underwater shots. Battery life wise – I'm not able to give a clear review on that since I took the battery out in between rides, but it does come with two batteries for extra power on the go. The picture and video quality is pretty good to me especially if you’re in bright settings (you get what you pay for) and you can easily color correct the footage in editing software if you have the experience. If not, then the quality you see may or may not turn you off. It’s also not so good at night so if you want to take night shots, make sure you have portable handheld LED or selfie lights for extra light. Filming in the highest video quality in hot weather cause it to overheat. The only annoyances I had with this camera is that if you wear it with a wrist strap, the camera will catch the audio of you turning the camera from front to back and sometimes the waterproof case muffles your voice. What shocked me the most was the waterproof capabilities. As long as you secure the camera correctly in the waterproof case, you’re good to go! I also recommend letting it air out in between shots to keep it from fogging up. The action camera came with a lot of useful attachments and clips for basic videography. The touch screen feature is also pretty clutch for navigating around the UI. I was also able to successfully download the transfer app to send footage back and forth to my phone but I prefer taking out the SD card and transferring the files with an adapter since it was faster than using the app. The action camera does come with 64GB micro SD card – it’s already popped in on the side of the camera. You can use the card that comes with it or buy a new reputable one with better read/write speeds. For half the price of a Go Pro, I recommend this camera for anyone wanting to buy an action camera on a budget, to buy as their first beginner action camera, or to film action shots that your smartphone can’t! I’ll add shots taken in bright light shots vs night shots so you can see what I mean for full transparency purposes!

I bought this camera just two days before heading to Turks and Caicos to film my first YouTube vlog — and so far, I’m in love with it! It’s the perfect little camera for beginners like me who just want to capture memories without all the pressure of creating high-end content.

It’s lightweight, easy to use, works great under water and comes with everything you need, including the waterproof case (which is a big plus for beach and pool shots). The picture quality looks great so far, and it’s been keeping up with all my needs — from airport clips to the resort arrival.

I haven’t finished the vlog yet, but I’m really excited to see how everything turns out. If you’re thinking about getting a camera to start documenting life or travel, this is a solid and affordable choice!

I bought this to take videos of kids school events. It can be difficult to get a video with the way schools are laid out, so I thought this would give the best options for any sort of scenario. I can just set it on a small tripod that's above people's heads and it will be less invasive than my hand and a cell phone. Also, since it has wifi, I can put the tripod somewhere on the sides of the room and still check on it to make sure it is working and then click record in time. Finally, it's small enough that I can just stick it on a spider and clip it somewhere if absolutely necessary. So far, I've used it with a spider in taekwando (worked great) and with a tripod from front row (where I didn't need to be in anyone's way).

My one concern is that the app isn't put out by a major company, so maybe someday it wont be wifi useful. However, I have checked that all the functions work without wifi, so if that day comes, it's still a good camera. (Also, I have not actually needed to use the wifi app other than tinkering, so not a big deal). If that day comes, it does have a remote to start the video, so that should work (just can't do one last check that it sees everything is all).

It does chew through some GB when in 4K60fps, but that is to be expected. With a normal SD Card formatted to only allow 4G files, it was starting a new file every 16 minutes. That's not been an issue so far. I have not noticed a skip between videos, but I think there is one. In my case, if it's important, I just select a resolution to make sure I'm safe. I think a differently formatted card might do better, but I have not checked.

Battery lasts more than an hour, which is good. It comes with two batteries, which is good for hot swap, and I love that it comes with an external battery charger which does both so I can just knock it out before a play and not be tinkering with a bunch of cables. Also comes with a ton of hookups. Seems like there's nothing I can't attach this to, whether it's bikes, tripods, chest, bars, you name it.

Overall great value for the money. Very happy with it.

This camera packs a punch! Crystal-clear video and the touchscreen is a nice bonus. Took it snorkeling and it worked like a charm. Battery life could be a little better, though.
