I plugged this into my computer and it immediately worked. I first took 3 test screen captures using Discord, above. The first two pictures are of a canvas print in the room, and the last is my 2k LCD gaming monitor.
Pic 1: Overcast, no lights on
Pic 2: Overcast, lights on.
Pic 3: Picture of my monitor (Discord uses a "true mirror" effect, so that's why text is backwards)
Camera chip seemed to plateau at 130f /54.5c in a 73f/23c room. I would recommend people concerned about image quality add a chip heatsink to help keep image quality higher, but it stays well below "getting damaged" temperature which is well over 212f/100c.
The instructions and box are for different cameras, and this one does NOT have the "verifocal lense."
Adding your own polarizing filter for the desired result would help achieve a better picture.
When I just opened Windows 10 "Camera" I got a MUCH better video quality of my home, and a slightly better of the canvas print.
My only real complaints (considering this is a DIY chip and shouldn't necessarily come with things like heatsinks/case/lense/filter/ etc.) is the way it came packaged. It wasn't packed in an anti-static bag, it wasn't sealed by even a piece of tape, and the USB cable was plugged into it, adding stress to the socket on the circuit board. I would *highly* recommend immediately checking it's functioning when you order it, so you can return/exchange it in case it's broken (or was a returned item someone screwed up before returning it).
