I have a Logitech QuickCam 9000 that I've been mostly happy with for about 20 years. It has good enough resolution and good image quality, and I'm sure I could have lived with it for a good while longer. And yet, even though this camera doesn't have a case and doesn't have a microphone, it has just replaced my old webcam.
Things I like about it:
* Much higher resolution than my old webcam (12MP vs 2MP).
* Good image quality. Yes, you can see the compression artifacts if you look closely, so it's not going to replace raw input from a $2000 industrial camera. But for a webcam, it looks really good to me.
* Less lag than my old webcam.
Of course, if you're going to use it as a webcam, you'll need a separate microphone, and you may need to get a little creative with how you mount it (see my photo!) But once you've dealt with those things, it does a great job.

It's a simple 12MP camera. It's plug and play as indicated. The computer was able to pick it up and install it without any problems. The image obtained was from streaming with VLC app. Overall it's a decent versatile camera.

It's super simple to get this setup and running – even on my Mac. Opened up VLC > File > Open Capture Device, and selected the USB cam. The cam feed popped up in VLC with no issues. The camera quality is great – it captures crisp HD video with AF, and the cable connection to the module is good quality as well. Just a slight lag exists between capture and output, but overall a very good USB camera module. Now to put it to good use!

Ready to mount. Nice quality manufacture.
The value kicks up with me through the compatibility with a wide range of software. Initially works great.
It's ready to go with the included cable. The supplied manual is helpful to get started.
The autofocus is impressive. A few initial tests and playing around, it's able to get into tight places. Works much better with extra light.

This is a fairly unique take on a USB camera that is pretty barebones but ends up being better than the average USB cam. It is basically just the camera component mounted on a circuit board and connected via a pin connector to a USB-A cable. The sensor will look familiar if you watch a lot of JerryRigEverything Youtube videos. It is meant to be used as part of a project setup or build (maybe for monitoring/dashcam/fixed shot/etc.) or it can just be connected to a computer as a webcam. Best-looking webcam I've used too with autofocus to boot.
