Tablet display graphics substantially more saturated than calibrated monitor

Tablet display graphics substantially more saturated than calibrated monitor
To say the connecting is not intuitive is an understatement. Once I figured out it was easy on my laptop. Connecting to the desktop tower however was another story since you beed an HDMI connector and 2 USB connectors close enough. In addition, the tablet will have to be close enough to the tower, cable was too short to get to my desk and USB C extentions do not transmit signal. In addition, if you are using two monitors, unless you have 3 HDMI connections you will likely have to buy display to HDMI adapters and an HDMI extention to make it work. After I figured out all the kinks, the tablet has been working the way it's supposed to. One thing I noticed though, the tablet shows graphics substantially more saturated than my display (which is calibrated), that maybe an issue for some unless there is a way to calibrate the tablet but I have not found a way

Note: turn down the brightness! It doesn't need to be at 100; I usually have it down to 40%. The screen brightness made me so nauseous until I realized that it's probably way too bright. The screen does have glare, but it really isn't that noticeable. Another thing; go in your computer settings and fix the refresh rate on the tablet! It was on a slower setting (didn't even notice visually) but it made me so nauseous. I fixed it to a higher refresh rate and voila.

    Anyway:

The color on this thing is so pretty and my computer screen looks dull in comparison. It is so accurate when printing and posting to social media.

The pen is soft, easy to hold, and you're not easily able to press the button on the side like other pens so there are no mistakes. And the case? My dog AND my cat have gotten ahold of this thing and everything is still in working order. Nothing needs to be replaced because it's so safe.

Click the button right above the scroll bar and you're given options for scrolling, panning, and changing brush size. I always keep it to brush sizing and it's so nice. I had something similar with the Intuos Pro tablet from Wacom and have missed it ever since.

I programmed the bottom three buttons to Y (redo), Z (undo, and this button has a little raised dot for easy finding), and S for quick saving my progress.

** changing to brush sizing will show as "KL/KR Mode switch [ ]"

I have never minded small spaces to work in and prefer it compared to big canvas sizes, so this size is perfect for me and fits nicely in the tablet section of my backpack. You can definitely find a laptop sleeve that will fit this beauty right inside when you're traveling.

Easy to hold in your lap, have it laying down, or get a Book Stand Easel ( https://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-studio-book-stand-easel) to have it at a good angle. I found the reviews for the tablet stand to be underwhelming, so I got something sturdier. It's a really nice setup and you can keep the pen holder on the little easel along with the tablet.

The only downside I could find is that the cords are a bit messy and confusing to learn at first, and it seems the USB input in the tablet is loose so the cord wiggles a bit. Don't be alarmed if suddenly it moves and you enter a world of Paprika or some acid trip, just straighten it out, put the USB firmly in the input, and it'll be back to normal.

Some people might be bothered by the space between the screen and the pen (parallax), but I only ever notice it with really small details. If you're doing line work, this might not be the tablet for you, or you'll have a learning curve to get around it.

For under $200 USD (with coupons/discount codes) this is a HUGE steal.

Does exactly what it's supposed to! Really love the slider bar so I can easily change my brush size every quarter of a second. Plenty of buttons to span all the necessary hotkey functions. Paid for itself in art commissions after just a few months. I always appreciate being able to flip the screen around to accommodate my left-handedness. As a first-time user of a tablet with a screen, it makes a big difference. I like how big it is so I can nail a bunch of small details. Not terribly big and clunky, can still hang out in bed and draw with it. Haven't had a single problem with it!

I was ecstatic at first. Upgrading from a cheap tablet with no display to this. Now I got FOUR monitors and the screen is so smooth it's like drawing on butter. Which I assume is very smooth.

I do use it quite a bit. I get bored, I like to sketch and doodle. Setting it up wasn't bad for me, as I already have a web of cables anyway (We'll come back to this.) I have it plugged into my PC, so if I remember correctly… the main plugs into your vid card then splices off into three cords going to a USB, power, then to the tablet. I just have it duplicating my main monitor and had no issues with set-up on the software end. Got drivers from their website and boom. I'm off and sketching away.

The first… annoyance is the NO OTHER STYLUS SHALL DARE TOUCH OUR GLORIOUS PADS EXCEPT FOR OURS!! …ok. But the stylus is fine. It has square sides and I don't accidentally keep hitting the buttons like I did with others.

Time goes on, and I'm going through nibs. If you know how to change nibs, it's your basic ordeal. Stylus comes in a round tube that has extras and a little hole that pulls them out. Neat. Although this time, something's not quite right. I change the nib and go back to drawing and there's almost… a crunch? Nails on a chalkboard and breaking a bone at the same time, I FREAK OUT… just a little. The nib didn't break or fall out… it just… isn't locking in completely. So when you push against the tablet at a certain angle, it'll push back in a little bit making you jam the pen into THE BEAUTIFUL SMOOTH SCREEN and have a minor heart attack.

Ok. Time to devise some solutions to this dilemma. Likely user error. I'm kinda dumb, so maybe I just didn't put it in right? Take it out, try again. Still does it. Maybe it's this nib? Try another one. And another one. And another one. Same problem. Well, it's a good thing I have other styluses around, I can just–wait. "NO OTHER STYLUS SHALL DARE TOUCH OUR GLORIOUS PADS EXCEPT OURS!!" …right. TIME TO ORDER A NEW ONE I GUESS.

After figuring out which stylus I needed for the exact model, luckily they were in stock. Also, since this model is already "outdated", extras may be limited forcing to upgrade or buy a new tablet altogether. I see how this goes. While I'm ordering, I'm also considering ordering more nibs. I'm not out yet, but it's good to be prepared. But surely. SURELY. They'll have extras with this new pen, right? …right!?

    They don't.

Now I'm doing my favorite thing in the world: CABLE MANAGEMENT. But after tidying up, the cable to the tablet is a little shorter than it used to be. It still reaches me, but causes anxiety. If I lean back too far, it's sliding onto the floor. And I'm already close enough to the main monitor that my retinas are burning. The tower is behind it, I can literally reach up and touch it from here.

So hurray, now I gotta buy a micro-usb extension! It is important to note that it comes with an extension cord, but that's already in use to reach the power. Plus I think it's regular USB, anyway. So if you're further than arm's reach, keep in mind you may need an extension.

Besides these fairly minor gripes, it's worked great. Which is surprising. Been spilled on… I accidentally ash on it all the time. When I'm shading or coloring, I'm like that kid in the Ring drawing the circles and screen is still smooth.

I'd put it at… somewhere between beginner and expert. If you want better quality than the cheap 'beginner' tablets, but don't want to drop five hundred on a PRO EXPERT TABLET OMGO! …then this'll work.

    Très bien pour débuter

Reviewed in France on September 6, 2024

what more can i say… thus far i've found nothing to complain about… the only thing that could maybe improve it would be to have both a horizontal and vertical scroll surface thingy… but that about the only thing that comes to mind its a fantastically good product.

    would absolutely reccomend.
