Nice camera mounts and OUTSTANDING mount for Sync 2 module
This set includes some nice mounts for the Blink Outdoor 4 (or 3) camera and an outstanding mount for the Blink Sync 2 module. First, the outdoor camera mounts: The build quality of these mostly-plastic mounts is just fine — nothing special. I have the Blink Outdoor 4 camera and it fit the housing well. There is a spacer (called a “washer” in the instructions) that is intended to let the housing fit the earlier version of the camera; I didn’t have a camera to try it with, but it looks like a good design for adapting to a thinner camera. The ring that snaps in to retain the camera is also fine — I wouldn’t count on it to stay in place if the camera falls, but that’s not really a normal use scenario. What’s really great about the camera mounts is the wide range of orientations they support. Imagine that you have the mount on a horizontal surface, pointing up. The camera can be pointed straight up, horizontally, or anywhere in between. Let’s say you have it horizontal (works the same for any angle); you can rotate the camera so that it points in any direction, 360 degrees around the mount. And once you have the camera pointing in the right direction, you can rotate the camera itself 360 degrees around the threads to which it attaches. This means that you can point the camera anywhere in a hemisphere, with full rotation. I took advantage of this flexibility when mounting my cameras under an angled eave on my house and then setting them to look down the side of the house (which is kind of sideways for a Blink camera). It was easy to get exactly the view that I wanted. Now, about the mount for the Sync 2 module: The description and photos on the Amazon product page don’t really make clear how slick this is. You get two pieces: One is the white plastic part, which includes within it a power adapter (you don’t use the power adapter that came with your Sync 2 module) and a magnetic connector. The other part is a small magnetic adapter (my package actually had two of them, so I guess I have a spare) that you plug into the micro-USB port of your Sync 2 module. Then you place the Sync 2 module into the white plastic part, the two magnets click together, and that’s it — just plug it into the wall outlet. Before this, I had an outlet mount that had a housing to hide the short USB cable between the power adapter and the Sync 2 module. This was pretty nice, but it stuck out from the outlet pretty far. The one that came with this product (the one I’m reviewing now) is as slim as the Sync 2 module and looks great in the outlet. It does not cover up the other outlet of the pair. It also worked upside down in the bottom outlet, although this would seem to depend on the very small magnetic connector, so I don’t think I’d do it that way (but it didn’t fall apart right away, so maybe it would work). I tried the mount in three different outlets. The only issue that I had was that in one of them, it was hard to keep it straight up and down; it kept wanting to tilt off to the side. (Because the plug is unpolarized, which allows it to be used up or down, it has the potential to wiggle a little in a polarized outlet, where one slot is wider.) But this was not a problem in the other two outlets that I tried. I know there are a lot of similar camera mounts out there. I don’t know that these camera mounts are better than the others, but the Sync 2 mount alone is a reason to pick this product.

    These housing units for my Blink cameras are exactly what I needed! They were super easy to assemble. All of the necessary hardware was included. Now my cameras are protected from the weather AND the critters that climb our trees … our cameras have been knocked down but not anymore! The sync connection was amazing! The cameras fit perfectly in the cases!

    I needed something a little more versatile for my outdoor cameras. These were perfect. They are super easy to install. The protective housing slips right on and the 360 rotation gives me multiple views of the house. So glad I upgraded.
