The Aiper S1 is a great starter robot for your pool. My pool is screened and has pop-up jets on the floor for cleaning, so I don't have a lot of debris to deal with, but the robot was still great for getting the fine material that get past.
As with all technology, you must name your device – mine is called Slurpee. The unit has some weight to it, so be careful putting it in and out of the pool. Once in the water, it takes off and does it's thing! It is fun to watch it go around and clean! My pool is a freeform shape with an dished bottom, so I initially tried this using the recommended setting for that type of pool, including the random pattern. When using those settings, it seemed to keep cleaning the same spots over and over. I switched to a rectangular pool and the straightline pattern and it seemed to do much better.
My pool has a swimout in the deep end, and some wide steps. When the robot climbed those areas, it would sometimes get stuck going back down due to the center of its backshell resting on the step and the treads not making contact with anything. It would eventually unstick itself and continue on, but I think if the backshell were redesigned in that area this wouldn't happen at all.
This does a good job at cleaning the waterline tile. It comes up the wall and sits there at the waterline for a few seconds and scrubs the tile. This is probably my favorite part of the robot, as my waterline always has a line of debris.
Charging is easy with the included charger. Word of waring – MAKE SURE THE RUBBER FLAP IS CLOSED before putting in the pool! I ALMOST dropped it in one time and caught it just before! A small dab of silicone grease on the charger jack will help prevent corrosion from starting there. My runtime to complete dead is usually about 3 hours.
The basket came with a fine mesh filter. This did not seem to work that well, as I found a lot of debris bypassed the fine mesh filter but was caught by the outer basket. It just doesn't seem to seal well to the main basket.
The App keeps track of cleaning time, however mine stopped tracking time randomly after one run, and hasn't started tracking again. Software bug?
Overall if you are looking for a simple pool vacuum without a lot of bells and whistles, this one will work well for you.
Small but mighty! This little pool robot works pretty darn well. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well it performed. My only gripe is the battery. To be fair I have a medium sized pool that is right at about 1600 sqft. had my pool been a bit smaller then I feel the robot would have probably lasted for the full cleaning.
The robot has a neat extra filter in it that really does an awesome job of filtering algae and other fine particles. In fact it probably does too good a job. My pool had a bit of green on the bottom, and I think the filter got overloaded by it and didn't work too well once it has ingested some of the algae. Cleaning the filter was quite simple, I just hosed it off and set it out to dry. The unit didn't take too long to charge, it would benefit from some kind of docking station though as it's a bit fiddly to have to plug it up manually.
The extra fine filter can be removed if you need to wash it, and the cleaner can still be used without it, but keep in mind it wont filter out the super small particles if you do. It will still pick up leaves and small items.
This has to be one of the best looking pool robots I've come across, if style matters then this is for you. At 529.99 which is the price at time of my review, I feel it's priced a little on the high side, if it had a larger battery capacity I would say it was worth it. I set it to scrub mode and it only managed to get about half way around my pool before going flat. Maybe after a few recharge and discharge cycles it will improve. I did find it nice that they include a retrieval hook that can be attached to a standard pool pole. It made retrieval a little easier.
The accompanying app is pretty basic and easy to use. Just know that your cleaner will lose contact though shortly after your robot has entered the pool, as wi-fi and Bluetooth don't work well underwater. As far as value for money is concerned I'd say I don't feel it offers the best value. It's just priced a little too high for how long the battery lasts.
This is the 4th robotic pool cleaner I've owned, and it is the best of all of them. What specifically makes this one special are two main factors. First, it is the only one I've seen with the extra micron filter to catch fine dirt/sand/particles. Without this filter (as with my other robots), really fine debris simply gets vacuumed up and blown out the other end, so that it's really only pushing dirt around, rather than actually cleaning it up. And that fine filter is very effective, although for heavily soiled pools, the robot will need to be removed and cleaned often, as the capacity of that filter is fairly limited. Second, although many robots claim to navigate the pool in an organized, learned fashion, this is the only robot I've had that seems to truly move around the pool in a logical, mapped fashion, without continually repeating certain areas or moving completely randomly. In fact, it seems to truly move in an S-pattern, as advertised. The entire unit is very well made, and the quality is evident everywhere, from the case to the track treads to the filters. The app is easy to install and use, and the wireless interface between my phone and the robot is fairly seamless. The battery life is outstanding. In the listing, they state a battery life of 180 minutes, but I honestly feel like I let it run for even longer than that. Regardless, the battery life is ample, and the charging adapter is compact and easy to store. The only (very) small disappointment is the waterline cleaning. Because it is cordless/battery powered, it simply doesn't have the power to really scrub the waterline. Don't get me wrong, it absolutely will clean the waterline, but just don't be looking for it to remove harder scale or debris, as the scrubbing action is somewhat weak. But again, overall, this is unquestionably the best pool robot I've had, and 2 of the other 3 I've owned were definitely on the very high-end/expensive side. So even though this robot is not inexpensive, I'd say it is still a very good relative value for the money.
I have a higher-end Dolphin Nautilus vacuum that I thought was great–this Aiper is better, and here’s why:
First and foremost, setting up the Dolphin was always a chore. I had to plug in the charger, plug in the vacuum, untangle the cord, and try to remember not to trip on it as it was cleaning. The cord has already failed once, so it’s a risk going forward. The Aiper has none of that: no cord to trip over or fail, and after charging, I just throw it in the water.
Second, the filter basket is bigger and easier to clean. My old vacuum’s filter had six parts that needed to be disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled. It was kind of a pain. The Aiper has a single large basket that’s plenty big enough for a week’s worth of debris (and probably a lot more).
Third is efficiency. My old vacuum roamed the floor and got stuck on stairs like a drunken sailor stumbling out of a bar. It got the job done, but not like the Aiper. The Aiper is methodical and calculating. Even in my kidney bean-shaped pool, it efficiently and systematically cleaned and then shut off, conserving power. I watched a time-lapse on my security cameras, and it did a really good job getting everything–and never once got stuck like my old vacuum.
Fourth is simplicity. This vacuum has no app, and I love that. I’m always worried about buying expensive stuff that relies on an app. What happens if the app goes away or crashes? There’s no need for an app for this device. Just select the cleaning mode and chuck it in the pool. My old vacuum had an app with pretty much just an on/off button that I only used to re-clean when it failed the first time. I’m happy this Aiper is app-free!
Fifth is convenience. I travel a lot, and one of the things I dread the most is coming home to a pool that’s a complete mess. The Aiper has an eco mode that cleans every 48 hours until it runs out of battery. It can easily last a week or more. That means I just need someone to charge it and dump out the basket once a week while I’m gone. That’s way easier than teaching someone how to disassemble and clean the old vacuum. Anyone can maintain the Aiper.
Honestly, I love this vacuum. My biggest worry is that anything that lives in water is bound to fail sooner or later. I’ve read some not-so-great experiences people have had with customer service, so I’m dreading the day this thing dies. That said, it has a two-year warranty, and if it lasts, it will be well worth the price. My old Dolphin still works, but I can’t imagine using it again unless the Aiper dies. I hope it’s well-built and reliable. It sure looks like it is.
I would strongly recommend giving this Aiper a shot over the competition. I just wish I had made the switch sooner.
Four stars is adequate, because overall the pool vac works good, just not great.
The look of the vac, the quality of the hardware, the thoughtfulness of the basket design, the waterproofing of the power connection port, and even the pole adapter are all top notch. I'm very happy with most of this vac.
Where it falls just short, is the actual ability to clean my pool. It's strange because I have an older Aiper vac that works VERY well, it just is old and has a bad battery at this point. For some reason, this vac looks amazing, but it misses large piles of sand and debris. Even after sitting in the pool for hours, doing its random pattern, hitting the walls, cleaning the waterline and everything. It just oddly misses a bunch of debris. I even try to use the vac twice in a row when cleaning just so it can get everything, and even after two FULL cycles, there are parts of my pool that are just not fully clean. I don't know what is up with this vac, because my older Aiper vac did great, and my other "brand" vacs clean it perfectly well too.
It forces me to go back with the hand held stick vacuum to collect the dirt and debris that this one missed.
So I looked the unit over 10 times, just to make sure there isn't something stuck, or missing on the physical unit. But it looks like it's perfectly setup and built, it just misses the mark.
I'm holding out hope that it needs to "learn" my pool or something, because I keep using it every other day or so, multiple times per week (I live down by the ocean, so having sand in my pool is very common) but each cycle it just doesn't do a 100% job.
I'm very impressed with the Aiper Scuba S1. It's small and lightweight for it's size, yet has a very solid build quality and one of the best filtration baskets I've seen on any pool cleaner robot. The basket has 2 layers, the second being an ultrafine washable liner. You can choose to use it, or leave it off and only pickup medium to large debris like leaves with the main mesh filter basket.
This robot cleans the bottom and the sides of your pool. It moves quite quickly for it's size and has a good amount of suction, not much left behind after a single pass. There are 4 modes accessible with the power button on the front: bottom only, side only, bottom + sides, and a periodic cleaning mode where the robot only cleans ever few days and stays submerged until the battery dies or the filter is full.
There is the Aiper app which is pretty easy to pair and use. It gives you the exact battery left on the robot, and you can choose modes from the app. You will need an account to use the app.
I'm terms of what sets this apart from other pool robots of this size: the robot is quick, it navigates exceptionally well for this price point, and it has good range and battery life for medium size pools (1600sqft). The 150mins seems to be as advertised, that's with a mix of wall and bottom cleaning I was able to get similar.
The only downsides to this robot, compared to larger and much more expensive ones: the brushes are not as large so it takes a bit longer to clean, less numerous brushes (single row vs double row), and the way in which it cleans walls is less sophisticated. This robot starts at the bottom, goes up the wall in a straight line, returns to the starting point, and then moves over and begins again. It's a slow pattern. Larger and much more expensive robots (like the flagship Aiper robot) have more suction and are able to drive sideways on the wall in an N pattern, something this one can't do.
Overall it's a fantastic pool cleaning robot. It gets the job done. It has ample battery life. And it does everything you could want in a pool robot at a very competitive price. This is perfect for inground and out of ground pools.

Le Aiper Scuba S1 est plus lent que les modèles plus dispendieux et ce pour trois raisons : 1) la brosse est plus petite, 2) le pouvoir d’aspiration est moins grand et 3) il ne se déplace pas latéralement sur les murs et doit donc redescendre au fond à chaque fois. Donc il nettoie bien, mais est plus lent. Toutefois, gardez à l’esprit que le Scube S1 coûte beaucoup moins cher que les modèles plus performants, certains modèles de la concurrence se vendent jusqu’à 5000 tomates! Le Aiper Scuba 1 est plus abordable et vaut vraiment la peine.
With a full charge overnight, we placed this into our 33×15 oval pool and left it to do it's thing. And while it crawled around the bottom of the pool, I wondered how much vacuuming I will have to do afterwards. And to my surprise, the pool was absolutely spotless when I came home from work! Not a speck left to pick out. On top of which, I didn't even have to do the slimline. This crawls up the walls!
Ok, if you haven't used one of these before, you are in for a surprise. Because the technology of these robot vacuums, is so incredible, it might amaze you to see it in action. But what's worth it all, is the time saved. As well as the aggravation that pool maintenance brings along with the season, that is nearly completely alleviated with this robot. I am actually able to enjoy my pool now!
To be honest, this is my second robot pool vacuum. And as there may be some small differences between them, the big thing to look for, is how well it clears the floor and walls. Not just collecting the debris on the bottom. And this particular unit does a great job of actually scrubbing the surfaces of the walls and floor. Similar to manually brushing the surfaces yourself. And with close inspection of the material surfaces, there is zero area missed. Showing a great automatic mapping technology within this vacuum.
The filter trap is ultra fine, durable mesh, with an incredibly easy to access, remove and replace bin. As it had trapped the fine particles in the pool, it rinses out easy.
Included in the box, is a product recovery hook, that applies into standard poles, to retrieve the vacuum when needed. As well as the wall charger and complete instructions. Support from the company is also available for guidance, with very good customer service options and assistance.
A very high quality pool vacuum, at a very reasonable price point. And although some might ponder the readability of purchasing one of these, as they are not cheap, I can honestly say that they are worth every dime , for the improved maintenance quality and time saved doing the chore. And this particular unit, should definitely be considered for anyone considering such an investment. It is truly excellent bang for the buck!
We have an above ground pool, 12 foot by 54 inches high. Good enough for my husband and me and the grandkids if they want to swim when they come over.
Opening the pool is always a pain. Fill it up, shock it and then clean it. The first couple of actions are not the pain but cleaning it is. This year with the weather we had significant algae that I had to go around the pool with the brush and brush the sides. Then I had to lug out the vacuum hose and do all that. Luckily I have the pool set up with a smart plug so I can hold the hose in the skimmer while I turn the pump back on. Life hacks right?
This year I had issues again with my left upper arm due to an injury done to it. So cleaning wasn't peaches and cream, but I did it.
When I saw the APIER Scuba S1 come up for review I thought I'd give it a go. I prayed it wouldn't damage my liner (it didn't) and kept my finger crossed all would go well.
I was so fascinated by how it worked I stayed the whole time watching it work! It doesn't go as fast as the video AIPER posted here but AIPER Scuba S1 did the job in under an hour. I did have to go into the pool as the weights I attached to the pool thermometer got loose again so I had to pick that up as I didn't want the vacuum to pick that up. Btw, they do recommend you do not have your pool pump working at the same time at the vacuum.
I don't know if you can see in the video a line of dirt at the 8 o'clock position. We also had a mini storm where leaves got into the pool. We have nothing but tress at the back part of the property (protected area) and when the wind blows a certain way, we get leaves. This time there wasn't much but I was impressed with the dirt it vacuumed up! Even with the manual brush/vacuum I had a hard time picking the dirt up.
When charging the light bar will pulse and when fully charged the light will stay solid.
The basket to collect the leaves and dirt is very easy to clean just use the hose to wash out the debris.
You are also given a hook that attaches to the rod you use for the net and brush. The run time for the vacuum is 150 hours and you can have the vacuum be on 'auto' mode. This will do the walls and floor. Floors only. Wall only and Eco mode which will work for 45 minutes every 48 hours for one week when fully charged. Charge time is 4 hours.
It will clean an area of 1600sq.Ft (150M squared)
I took a star away because this would have benefited from having an app to run it. I also found the price a bit high.
Overall I am happy with it and looking forward for once for the opening of the pool next year.
