A very good EV Charger, Great price.

5 out of 5 stars

A very good EV Charger, Great price.
I decided to purchase this charger after watching a review by Tom Moloughney from the State of Charge YouTube channel. I was in the market for a replacement because my previous EVSE failed in a very common way—the plastic clip that secures the connector to the vehicle broke. Unfortunately, that weak point seems to plague many chargers. One of the first things that sold me on the IYILO EVSE is that the locking clip is metal, not plastic like the one on my WolfBox charger. That makes a big difference for real-world use. Accidental drops or rough handling while charging (courtesy of my son) are far less likely to cause damage. Setup was straightforward. I went with the NEMA 14-50 plug-in version, and all it took was downloading the app, registering an account, and I was ready to charge. The app allows you to input your local costs for both scheduled charging and plug-and-charge sessions. The interface itself is fairly basic, but it provides all the essential information without unnecessary clutter. One standout feature—and a major reason I decided to try this unit—is its temperature monitoring. The charger includes temperature sensors for both the NEMA 14-50 plug and the vehicle connector. I haven’t seen this feature on other EVSEs, at least not at this price point. Even better, the unit doesn’t just display temperatures. If temperatures exceed safe thresholds, the charger first reduces power, and if the temperature doesn't decrease, shuts down until conditions return to acceptable levels. That’s an excellent safety feature and a meaningful safeguard against overheating and potential fire risks. Another feature I really appreciate is how the charger handles power outages. My previous unit would revert to standby mode after a power loss and fail to resume charging—an annoying surprise when you wake up to a vehicle that isn't charged. This EVSE automatically continues the charging session once power is restored. I can personally confirm this works: during a recent outage caused by downed power lines, the charger picked right back up when service was restored. Overall, I’m very happy with this unit. At $309, the price is extremely competitive, and the built-in overheat protection adds real peace of mind. My only hesitation is that IYILO is a relatively new company, so there isn’t much data on durability or customer service. That said, when my unit arrived without the RFID cards, I emailed support and had the issue resolved within a couple of hours—which is a very encouraging sign. Based on the combination of price, safety features, and real-world performance, I think this charger is an excellent value. The only real caveat is its limited track record due to the company’s age—but so far, my experience has been very positive. I will provide an update in a few months.

Hands down, this charger is amazing. Easy to install, professional and well written manual and installation instructions were crystal clear and everything about the product from packing materials to mounting screws are robust and fitting of products at twice the price. I already had the NEMA 14-50 plug in my garage as this IYILO was replacing another charger (Enel X Juicebox 40) I purchased in 2020.

The app is terrific and stable, the info provided is useful and ease of use is a no brainer. Just a well thought out, well built and well engineered product.

First EV charger on the market to have temperature sensors in the 240 volt AC plug and car connector that prevent overheating and possible damage to the electrical connections, This is an important safety feature. The unit also has a very flexible charging cable that remains pliable even in very cold temperatures. The majority of chargers have cables that become very stiff and unwieldy when the temperature drops. The unit was easy to install and the associated smart phone app works well. Overall, an excellent EV charger at an unbeatable price. Highly recommended.

I’ve only had it for a few weeks, but it has done everything they said it would do. I have a 50amp circuit so I got the 40amp charger. I am on Time Of Use (TOU) pricing with my electric company, so the schedule capability was important to me. I can now plug in my car at any time knowing that it only charge during off peak hours. The bonus was being able to track the cost of each charge. The app shows me the result of each charging session including start and stop time, kwh delivered and cost. This charger was much less expensive than chargers that don’t have the features this one does. I could not be happier. Check out the review on the State Of Charge Youtube channel.
    UPDATE:
I found a small issue with the app and sent an email to support. I received a response right away letting me know that the problem was almost certainly a software glitch. However, in an abundance of caution, they offered to send me a free replacement unit with a pre-paid label for me to send the original unit back. I was blown away with their response to this problem. I wish every company cared about their user's issues as much as IYILO. My original 5 star review remains in tact and I give them another 5 stars for service.

Very well designed and easy to use and set up. Love the fact that I can see the temperature of both the wall plug and the inlet plug in real time on the app.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
This 40A Level 2 EV charger works exactly as expected and delivers a significant charging speed upgrade compared to a standard outlet. The NEMA 14‑50 plug made setup easy with no hardwiring needed, and the 25‑foot cable is long enough to comfortably reach the vehicle in the driveway or garage.

I really appreciate the built‑in safety features, especially the dual temperature sensors in both the plug and connector, which adds peace of mind during longer charging sessions. The charger feels well‑built and durable, and being Energy Star and ETL certified was an important factor for me.

The WiFi app is convenient for monitoring charging status, and the RFID feature is a nice bonus for access control. Works perfectly with J1772 vehicles and has been reliable so far. Overall, this is a great value Level 2 charger with smart features, strong safety design, and easy installation.
