This one is POE.

5 out of 5 stars

This one is POE.
I don't review things often, unless they are great. I set this up in 3 min without docs. Plugged it in (POE), captured the ip address assigned via DHCP on the firewall, made a static address for it, and then logged into it.

Totally impressed with this device. It just works. Very simple to add to your home lab for full access to headless servers. Just connect USB-C and HDMI to your server and the Ethernet to a PoE router port. No external power supply required. Really, really slick. I know there are other options out there but this seemed the best value given the capabilities and the price. I purchased one thinking I would just switch it around to a given server when I needed more access than that provided through ssh, Cockpit, or whatever. But, at this price, I may just spring for one of these for each of my servers and leave it in place. It is that convenient.

It's an incredibly small device that provides so much utility – setup was intuitive; four cables (three if you use PoE) and five minutes of my time, and it was ready to go. It pulls little enough power that I could just plug it into USB, too, so no extra power adapters to deal with. The native Tailscale linking is handy, and the interface is very user friendly. People use the term game-changer too loosely, but this truly is. It's fairly priced and will make admin of my homelab so much easier.

Bought to support a headless server in my home office. Some other KVMs are complicated to install and configure. This was totally intuitive and I had it in operation in > 2 minutes. Now that I have used it, I can see that the user interface is great for my needs. Uses web interface, so no extra software is needed. Works great!
This is my 2nd GL.iNet product and I very happy with the company's quality and understanding of the user experience for all their products. They are also all of a high build quality and don't look or feel solid. I will follow them for other IT products I may need.

Where was this when I was managing IT departments (before retirement)? This was about the easiest product I ever set up, and that isn't the best part. This remote KVM works flawlessly for complete control over a remote PC. The only setup I did was to set the screen resolution to match the monitor I am using and that was fall-off-a-log easy. Maybe I'm not keeping up, and this is becoming the norm, but I am amazed at how well this works for the price and amount of setup that is required.

Setup was simple. Power option with PoE or you can use a 5V 2A power port. Was able to use the USB-C power port to a USB-C on the device which kept constant power even when the device was powered off.

The video quality was good at 4K@30fps.

Sometimes trying to hit the F7 key to enter the device's BIOS settings was a little tricky.

I liked the compact size and configurable options.

Purchase Price: $87. Solid KVM. If you have a server definitely pick one up! KVM is working over PoE to manage a server and allow for UEFI updates. If the server takes a dump and loses internet I can jump into the KVM and restart it. -1 star as no matter what I can't get proper text scaling on a 4K display. I have to set the virtual resolution to something really low resolution and that often cuts off the terminal and produces errors as I guess modern operating systems don't expect sub 768p resolutions?

Works great. Right out of the box, it is very intuitive. It is better than I expected, almost imperceptible mouse and keyboard lag. The video updates are very quick. You are NOT going to use this type of thing for Visio or FPS gaming, but for terminal, console, gui productivity apps like Outlook, Word, Excel, and system admin type tasks, it is 100% usable as a remote KVM over IP solution, and allows remote file transfers, and boot up (UEFI – BIOS, boot prompt) level access.

This KVM is fantastic. It truly is plug and play. Easily identified on the network by searching the ARP table for "glkvm" hostname. Plug in the IP with port 8006 and you're in. The cloud option is nice to have, especially if you ever need to help a friend remotely or configure a device off-site. I wish I'd bought this sooner, as it would have saved the headache of disconnecting and reconnecting many dedicated devices for the installation process. For anyone who might not know what this device does: you connect it to a computer and then you can interact with said computer via web interface, without needing to hook up the computer to its own monitor & keyboard). This saves a ton of hassle when setting up devices which will be placed in infrequently or difficult to access locations, like a home server closet. It's a bit more expensive than some other KVMs on the market, but well worth the price, since it can be powered via POE or auxiliary USB c. Very nice that it comes with all the cables you need to actually use it (HDMI, USB c to a, USB c to c (for aux power if not using POE), and an ethernet patch cord, for network access & optionally power if not using aux cable. Small enough to fit just about anywhere. It's about the size of a 2.5 inch SATA ssd, just thicker.

    GAMECHANGER

Reviewed in Germany on October 29, 2025

Perfekt für seinen Preis. Bestimmt kommen aber noch einige Verbesserungen bzw. Updates.

Brilliant remote KVM solution – simplest way to access my PC from anywhere

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 29, 2025

I bought the GL.iNet Comet PoE (GL-RM1PE) as a way to access my PC remotely, and it has been absolutely fantastic. Once set up, I can fully control my machine over the internet as if I were sitting right in front of it – including BIOS, boot screens and when the OS has frozen. For managing a system that isn’t always physically accessible, this is a game changer.

I also bought the Fingerbot with it, and it works perfectly alongside the Comet. The combination gives me reliable remote power control as well as full KVM access, and in practice it’s the simplest and most complete way I’ve found to access a PC or laptop remotely. Everything has just worked exactly as expected with no weird glitches or complicated workarounds.

The hardware feels solid and well thought out, and once you follow the instructions, the setup is straightforward and clearly documented. The web interface is clean, responsive and easy to use, and the video quality and responsiveness are more than good enough for everyday maintenance, updates and troubleshooting.

Overall, I’m extremely impressed. If you need proper, reliable remote access to a machine – far beyond what normal remote desktop software can offer – this little box (especially paired with Fingerbot) is an excellent solution. I’m delighted with my purchase and would strongly recommend it.

KVM intuitivo, veloce e senza complicazioni

Reviewed in Italy on December 13, 2025
