This outlet extender solves problems for us, and it has the added benefit of being a surge protector too. Our house, built a half-century ago, is a great house, but like most, if not all, houses built back then, it does not have enough electrical outlets. Back then we didn't have all the devices and gadgets that we have today that always need charging and so forth.
So we needed something for our bigger bathroom, because the one wall outlet in there has a lot going on in the same switch-plate, but it has only one outlet. On the same switch-plate, it has: two light switches (one for the light panel above the vanity and one for the small light above the tub/shower); another switch to operate the exhaust fan, and beneath that, the sole electrical outlet.
Which means we can plug in only one appliance at a time: either the blow dryer, the CPAP sanitizer or an electric razor. Due to the way the switches and the one outlet are arranged on this crowded switch-plate, there isn't much room for even a modest two-outlet adapter and definitely NO room for horizontally-shaped, multi-socket outlet with surge protection.
We searched Amazon for "vertical multi-outlet power strip" and found this one, which fits the bill perfectly and is reasonably priced. The vertical configuration enables it to fit nicely into our crowded switch-plate and it looks "nice" (as "nice" as an electrical gadget can look). This power strip has outlets on three sides, enabling for more flexibility in that it can accommodate the oversized plugs that come with appliances like blow dryers. It has a rotating plug, too, so you can insert it into your outlet at an angle if need be. It also has two USB and two C-type ports for charging phones and tablets. Our vanity's counter space is very generous, so it's possible for us to charge our phones in there if we wanted to – and charge them both at the same time – without having the phones anywhere near the sink.
This comes in white or black. Well worth the money. We bought two of them.
