I had previously purchased a different brand and they were worthless. I bought this product and it is exactly what I expected. The other brand touted it works with Alexa and you can turn your lights on and off while away from home, however they failed to mention you needed to buy a "hub" that costs in excess of $250! This product works off wifi and you don't need to purchase anything else! The set up was easy and hooking it up to Alexa was a breeze. I am using it on my exterior and scheduled it to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise and so far it is working great. When the product came, one of the bulbs didn't work right. I called the toll free number included with the product and after a quick troubleshooting process, which I had already done, the operator said they would send me a new bulb in 3-6 days. I got the new bulb three days later! The first product I bought cost around the same as this does but is a piece of crap. I bought the other product expecting it to do what this does. Boy was I wrong. If I would have just bought this it would have saved me a whole lot of money and aggravation.

The Etekcity ESL100 light bulbs are easy to install and set up. I believe these are quality lightbulbs with an easy setup just make sure you have everything ready to go- correct app signed up login, network password, an idea what you would like to name lights If you have to reset lightbulb it's easy turn light on and off three times then lights will start blinking. During setup I learned my laptop only supports 2.4 GHz network that's great for light bulbs one can't use a 5.0 GHz network. I would suggest sticking with one company for light bulbs or you like me you will end up with three different apps. You have to set up through the app the company uses before going through Alexa. If someone has found how to hook up lightbulbs just using Alexa I would love to know.
    * If this is your first time and you have Comcast or Xfinity both your networks may have the same name if you see only one network. I had to call Xfinity so they could rename both networks it makes life so much easier. After renaming if you can't connect your laptop or computer do a search to see if your model laptop or computer supports a 5.0 network. I thought mine did it's a newer laptop so if you are going to hook up smart devices it's a good thing to know. I spent 5 hours with Dell they could not figure out the problem until the next day. I hope this information is helpful to someone so they don't have to waste the time I did. Very happy with lightbulbs I will change out lightbulb with this company when other lights blow out. Good luck!

I was a bit concerned when I ordered these – but after receiving them via Amazon PRIME, I was able to set them up and configure them via all 3 methods (VeSync, Google Assistant, and ALEXA (by Amazon). ALEXA is the hot ticket, as you can set up Routines in ALEXA that enable automatic ON/OFF functionality based on Sunrise & Sunset, and user can set those events x minutes AHEAD or AFTER the Sunrise/Sunset actually happens or EXACTLY on the event (sunrise/sunset) it's your choice. Bonus, you activate your cell phone's location and the daily changes because of solar orbit (days get shorter/longer thus sunrise/sunset is a little different every day) all is accommodated automatically by the Alexa ROUTINES that you set up. Note that Android/Google Assistant (via Google Home App on your smartphone is NOT conducive to automatic adjustments you have to select a specific on/off TIME OF DAY, I could NOT find the Sunrise/Sunset feature on Google Home. But you can use the Alexa app to build that feature and program it, and from then on, you can manually voice-activate either from Alexa or from Google Assistant/Google Home Hub (HUB is NOT required). Out of the box setup is simple, you must download the free VeSync smartphone app, and from there you connect to your 2.5ghz (NOT 5ghz!) WiFi home network. You need your email address and choose your own password to create the VeSync (free) account which you them program each bulb and name it. You can put bulbs into 'groups' for example "Living Room" "Garage" "kitchen" and so on. The you can voice control the bulbs without needing to manually flip the light switch on/off (the switches must be left in the 'on' position.) You do not need to buy any other hardware for these smartbulbs to work, assuming you have home WiFi and you own a smartphone. You do not need a special adapter for these to screw into. Because these are LED technology, you save $$ compared to old school bulbs. These output 800 lumens, and consume 9 watts. These are Soft White (Dimmable) bulbs- they do NOT change color. You can vocally dim them. The things you can do are impressive. For the price of the four-pack, you can automate your lights to always remember to turn on/off or put them in AWAY mode so the lights will go on and off as if someone is at home while you are away. I regard this item as a very worthwhile purchase- for its convenience and the security it provides. When you unbox these, you are impressed with the HEFT of them. They are HEAVY (they should be, each bulb has a wi-fi radio built in). This is the ESL100 model when you go through VeSync setup. If you select the wrong bulb model during SETUP, the bulbs will NOT configure! In VeSync, then, this is the first of the 3 bulb choices "Soft White". It cannot change colors or use "Cool White" in lieu of Soft White. In the Alexa routine you can setup routines quite simply. In addition to the "Security Lights" group I created, I also created a single Porch Light that comes ON at Sunset and turns off at 2 AM. I can also speak commands to my Google Home Hub "OK Google, Turn PORCH ON" or "OK Google, Porch 50%" as examples. Similarly I can tell ALEXA the same commands. I used the ALEXA smartphone app on my Android Note 5 to build the sunrise/sunset based routines for all of my smart bulbs.

These bulbs are pretty bright and was easy to set up after downloading the VeSync app (you've to open an account with VeSync to use the app). From the app you connect to your WiFi (only supports 2.4 Ghz WiFi) and add/pair the bulbs individually or as a group and can name it 'bedroom', 'living room', etc. Then you connect the app to your Alexa device. This is where I had a problem and could not connect to my Alexa Echo Dot (3rd gen) which is connected to my 5 Ghz WiFi. I didn't want to switch my Echo Dot to 2.4G because it was also connected to my smart TV on 5G WiFi. So I had to return the bulbs. The bulbs can be controlled either from the app (or voice control with Alexa) dim, timer, etc. I really liked the bulbs and would buy again if the seller had a 5G compatible version. True to Amazon's excellent and hassle free customer service, I had no issues with the return/refund.

This took awhile to set up because wife didn’t do a full allow for location probably but I set it up quickly and it works so well. Very convenient and will be buying this as gifts for the family. Love the dimming feature and it does work manually with flipping outlet switch a couple of times as a backup If I forget or lose my phone and can’t access the app.
