More and more devices are coming with lots of (or even just a few) USB-C ports and few/if any USB-A ports. But there are still many devices – both legacy and brand new devices – that only use USB-A cables. Do you need to go out and buy all new cables to use USB-C? No – certainly not – that's where an adapter/hub like this comes in super handy. With this hub, you can use one USB-C port to provide high speed data connections (up to 5GB/s – IF the USB-C port you are using supports that) for up to 4 USB-A devices. That solves a huge problem with thin/light laptops and is really something that is needed in today's world.
Cable Matters makes a number of great adapters and this is another one of them. While somewhat basic (no braided covers or metal shrouds here) it's high functional with durable rubberized coverings and a plastic shell. It works and it should last just fine – and for a very low price. Considering the need for products like this in today's computing world that is straddling the line between USB-C and USB-A, you almost can't afford to NOT get this.
