This is going to be great!
I have an interesting problem, a old rental apartment with narrow bathroom windows and no exhaust fan. I was wracking my brain for a solution and came across these booster fans. If I could mount it backwards, or reverse the fans, it'd be able to sit in the opening and do a possible job as an exhaust. Sure enough, 6 screws and a plastic clip opened up the housing, and 4 screws hold each fan in place. You can simply flip them over, making sure the cables exit in the same corner to their original position, and bam!, it works great!! This Vivohome even remembers your louver position settings, so using it is as simple as hitting the power button on the remote. My pic shows the reversed fans.

    Smart Central Heating/Cooling Booster

    This vent fan is fantastic! It is set up to turn on when the A/C activates by detecting the temperature flowing in from the vent and turn off when the air becomes warm again. The vents close when turned off and resume their previous setting when turned on, either oscillating or at a set angle. The fan is set to 5/10 and it blows as fast as the miniature fan I had setting near the vent without making more noise than the A/C itself, so it's basically silent. Totally worth the $50.
    Mode 1: temperature display for A/C calibration.
    Mode 2: cooling toggle, set above your A/C temperature and it turns on when the A/C blows air cooler than your set temperature, can be disabled.
    Mode 3: heating toggle, set below your heater temperature and it turns on when your heater blows air hotter than your set temperature, can be disabled.
    Mode 4: fan speed 1-10.
    Mode 5: vent angle, it will oscillate while showing the vent angle and pressing up/down toggles the oscillation, stays at the current angle if disabled.
    Both cooling and heating can be on or off at the same time, recommend using only one.
    The vent closes when turned off.
    Must be plugged into a wall outlet.
    Include depth in your measurements for clearance, my floor opening was perfect but my duct corners rounded slightly going in deeper and the booster needed to be pushed in which probably stretched the duct into a rectangular shape.

    Effective Register Booster โ€“ Noticeable Improvement in Airflow and Room Comfort

    I really like this powered register boosterโ€”it definitely makes a difference. While it doesnโ€™t cool the air or act as an AC unit, it does a great job increasing airflow from the vent.

    My master bedroom is on the second floor, gets direct afternoon sun, and is usually warmer than the rest of the house. I installed two of these in the floor registers, and with the central AC running, Iโ€™ve noticed a clear improvement in the roomโ€™s temperature. I havenโ€™t even needed to turn on our portable AC unit yet.

    I knocked off 1-star off becuase this unit is a little bulkier than another I have, the fans gets noisey around the 8-10 settings, and the oscilating vents seem a bit delicate (I wouldnt drop anything heavy on them). DOnt let these minor quibbles deter you from getting one though.

    If you have rooms that tend to run hotter or get less airflow from your HVAC system, this is a smart and simple upgrade.

    First of all, this is not a game changer when it comes to cooling down a bedroom significantly. It will help, but it won't be drastic. My room is usually 3-5 degrees Fahrenheit above the set thermostat and this register booster helped get that delta down to 2-3 degrees above the set thermostat temperature. It might not be a large difference, but it sure does feel better enough to where I wasn't feeling nearly as stuffy or hot as before. I would say this only has an effect if you know your vent does not have enough airflow to push the cold air out across the whole room. Mine was pretty weak, so this helped push that air much further and constantly when I wanted.

    The only gripe I have about this is that it was a bit pricey to not have any smart connectivity to an app on my phone and the fans are a bit noisy and uncomfortable to sleep to if it is set to a fan speed of 6 or higher. However, the remote it comes with does a fine job and has a surprisingly long range to control the unit. Like, I went downstairs completely out of sight of my room and I could still control the unit.

    Anyways, overall, I would say this register booster does the job, but it wasn't the best value. But, this was the only register booster unit that had any sort of adjustable airflow direction, so maybe that makes up for the higher price.

    You have to really listen to the pre-order instructions before ordering. Your opening must be what is stated. Even though you have a 4โ€ x 10โ€ grill you must remove the grill cover & measure the duct opening in the wall. The duct opening was a little shy (tight), so I need to do some retrofit work. The dual fans move a lot of air & can be controlled by the remote or by adjusting the controls on the face of the duct booster unit. This is a high quality duct booster that does what it claims. Quiet operation, too.
