I'm going to need 2 more of these. We have an issue where we need to sometimes reach someone in another part of the house, but from the kitchen or living room, you can't talk to anyone even by yelling or shouting if they are in a bedroom. Putting one of these in the kitchen, and one in our youngest daughter's bedroom has solved the problem of us never being able to call her for breakfast. Now just need 2 more for the other bedrooms and we'll be all set.
There is a USB C charging port at the top. Well, not really a "charging" port, but it's where you power the unit. There's no internal battery for this. Unplug it, or have a power outage, and it doesn't work.
It's simple enough to use. Just dial the number of the intercom you want to call. These come programmed as #1 and #2, so if you're on Intercomm 2, just dial 1 and press the green phone button and it calls Intercom 1. Press the red phone button and it disconnects. You can set it to "autoanswer" where it will automatically answer after 2 rings so that you can talk. Each unit has to be set separately. Just press the Vol- button for 2 seconds until the dialing icon appears, and it will auto answer. Long press it again for 2 seconds, and the dialing icon disappears, and it must be manually answered. You can also turn off the ring, so that it can auto-answer without even ringing. Long press the Vol+ button until the ringtone icon appears. There is one that is a bell, that means it will ring. There is one that is a bell with a slash through it, that means it will not ring.
The instruction booklet is fairly simple to understand, especially if you've worked with intercoms before. My 12 year old daughter had no issues figuring it all out right away just by following the instructions.
If you are too far from the intercom, it doesn't pick up the voice extremely well. You need to be in a decent proximity in order to converse with the person on the other end.
There are mounting holes on the back in case you wish to wall-mount it. I've mounted it on the wall next to the light switch in the bedroom, and will leave it on the counter for the kitchen. Either solution can work, depending on your needs. There is no mounting hardware, so you'll have to provide any mounting screws if you want it wall mounted.
All in all, I am satisfied with my new intercom. Like I said, I may have to get more for the other rooms.
