Great Charger Plus Also Great Bells & Whistles
This charger has caught me by my eyes at, just below 90 BUCHS. Reason I had gotten this charger because of, adjustable ampere as well as dual voltage At first; I had unable to adjust ampere. I have to removed plastic film from touch display adjustable, then it work very well. A lot of folks have only 15 amp wall plug, you'll be better off, to drop the ampere down from 16 amp. With much older houses, drop down to 10 amp or less for safety from wall and plug outlet fire. For 240 volt use; the easy way to do so, just get 10 GAUGES extension cord from dryer's male end to 20 amp female 240 volt plug. Check; if female plug get too warm or hot, also dialed down to 13 amp for around 7+ miles per hour speed of EV charge. You can use same extension cord to run 3 horse power air compressor. Or you can hired the electrician for 240 volt 20 amp wall plug.

It's a very nice charger. It even came with the plug adapter from 240v to 120V. You can adjust the output amperage easily. Good length of cable.

On first look this appeared to be a really nice charger, with a shiny finish on the charger handle and chrome top button/latch release and a nice compact main body with heavy cords and adapter, including a perfect fit cradle to mount on the wall. BUT this is the tightest fitting charger I have ever encountered – I was afraid I was going to damage my car's charging port trying to get this to seat properly, and even worse when I was trying to pull it out when done charging!! I use a public charger and either of my two personal chargers every day so I know what the charger should 'feel' like when inserting and removing and this one is just terribly tight, so it's going to live in my trunk as a backup only!!

The charge amperage and power looked relatively accurate though it was reporting a little lower voltage than another one I had right next to it in the same duplex receptacle (So I know they're both getting the same voltage on the same circuit and phase of 120V).

The display is simple but YOU CANNOT CHANGE FROM CELSIUS so the temperature indicators are pretty useless to anyone who is used to Fahrenheit. As soon as you take the charger out of the car it forgets how much kWh you used so you'll need to look at the display prior to disconnecting (annoyance for me used to chargers that provide a summary of your session at the end).

The light bar is pretty nicely animated though, with a linear fade indicating charging status or waiting to charge if you set a delay and colors change depending on mode (green for charging, solid for complete; blue for ready or delay set). The instructions aren't great and there are only two buttons, one for cycling through amperage limits and the other for setting a delay start (no scheduling which isn't a problem for me).

As a note, this thing is only rated for 12A on 120V and 16A on 240V ONLY so keep that in mind (product data shows that very clearly fortunately, so this didn't affect my rating). The relays inside are rated for 50A so that seemed like a quality product. The Current Transformer (CT) is on the charger port side of the relay on one conductor and there is another CT across both current carrying wires to the car that can detect a fault and shut down the charger so that's pretty reassuring to me. Wires are 12 gauge for the 240V line and 14 gauge for the 120V which aligns with the charger's rating limits.

Despite the interior quality I could only give it three stars due to how extremely tight this charger fits and the lack of the ability to change temperature to Fahrenheit.

Size: 16A J1772 Adjustable NEMA 6-20 & 5-15 PlugAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )

The top line is this is a very light easy to pack unit that is a much better travel/emergency EVSE than lugging around a 40A 14-50 unit. I mostly use these when I go to AirBnBs or stay with friends and need a top off before public charging. Basically not all that often but it’s great when I need it.

Most brand. And EVSEs that support Level 1 won’t charge at 16A at 120v since they include a 5-15 plug and those are limited to 12A by standard and code. They usually will do 16A at 240 and 12A at 120 since a 6-20 to 5-15 adapter is assumed and can pass a UL/ETL/etc listing. The other option is having swappable pig tails that sets the max current.

This unit supports 16A at 120v which is very handy. It’s the most you can ever pull from a standard plug and net about a 2kW per hour charging rate before any conversion losses. Charging overnight should net about 20% in most EVs.

The wiring is all of the correct size and should stand up fine under 16A load. The 6-20 to 5-15 whip is 14AWG but rated for 105C. In a commercial setting 14AWG is just fine for a 16A continuous load. Everything else is 12AWG (thicker) and will never post a problem.

The case is nice and should keep the cables from creating a mess but I wouldn’t just chuck the EVSE across the room.

On the charging side I’ve been charging my car for several hours and it is just gently warm as expected with what is mostly a glorified extension cord. I didn’t see any GFCI specs listed in the manual but there should be one. When I have a moment I’ll try to test that and update this with the result.
