Wow, I never realized that choosing a surge protector my new desk would be so tricky! I had recently purchased a cord organizer to stick to the bottom of my desk, to hide all of the unsightly cords. That product caused all kinds of issues, but this surge protector solved them. First of all, the outlets needed to face the proper direction. If you have a protector where the outlets face the other direction, this can be a problem if any of the plugs have large, fat boxes. Second, speaking of fat boxes, this protector had enough space between each of the outlet plugs that would accommodate the fat plugs. Not all surge protectors have this. Third, the cord needed to be the proper length. I didn't want anything that was too short (for obvious reasons) but also too long, so I wouldn't have a bunch of extra cord length hanging down. Fourth, I loved the braided cord which was the correct color, and it also allowed for flexibility in the placement of the surge protector. Fifth, it had slots to plug USB ports, which meant I didn't need to waste any of my plugs with dongles for USBs. Sixth, if you liked all of these other things, hey, you get TWO surge protectors in the set. So I'm also using one next to my nightstand. It's just a really good set, and I highly recommend!
